Well last year he was awarded 3.9 million in arbitration and the New York Rangers let him go. He became an UFA and signed a one year contract with Atlant Moscow Oblast.

He has played in five seasons in the NHL and here are his stats.

------------------------------------------Games--G---A---P---+/- PIMS
2003–04 Columbus Blue Jackets----NHL--57--13--21--34..-11--54
2005–06 Columbus Blue Jackets----NHL--73--27--27--54..-13--50
2006–07 Columbus Blue Jackets----NHL--71--10--22--32..-19--26
2007–08 Columbus Blue Jackets----NHL--82--26--35--61...-9---34
2008–09 New York Rangers---------NHL--82--23--35--58....6---39
NHL totals----------------------------------365--99-140-239.-46--203

He is a RW and ignore his plus minus, because he was on a Bluejackets team which sucked.

So what do you think? Would he be worth a pickup next year?

I heard he is like Kotalik. Haven't seen him play enough to tell. It's probally a no.

Well we need to get some video of him playing then.

Here is a highlight reel of him in the 08-09 season with the Rangers

Here's one with him throughout his career:

His highlight reel is pretty impressive but notice most are from shootouts..(ahemkotalikahem) lol.
A highlight reel can make anybody seem good. there has to be a reason why he isn't in the NHL
He loves shooting 5hole on the shootout too haha

Well his arbitration was awarded 3.9 million, and in the second one he had some very impressive coast to coasts and dekes.

The Rangers let him go, plus arbitration is in August, and by that time most teams do not have the money to sign a player to 4 million dollars.

Say what you want, I'd take Kovalev on this team any day of the week. He scores 65-70 points a year, and is an exciting skill player

Kovalev I'd take - he's the pre-eminent lazy Euro floater (I'M FUCKING AROUND!), but yea, instead of Zherdev and his "Is he even playing tonight" tendencies, even when Kovalev isn't on, he's still around the play.

But Zherdev? Fuck no.

He is also a lazy fuck that is full of himself and he wastes his skill, plus he makes the allstar team with 14 goals or some shit.

I don't like the person either, but the player is still a strong player, and he's nearly a point per game player for his career...why wouldn't you want a player like that on your team?

From what I can tell Darcy is big on developing from within and building chemistry. Bringing in a hotshot scorer who won't match anyone's work ethic will only make Connolly, Roy and Vanek turn down the same path.

why do people keep wanting to add irresponsible players that don't play defense to a team whose foundation is being defensively responsible?

I'd rather have Kotalik than Zherdev, fewer points, higher +/-

I just suggested him because of his scoring presence at the time.
