He is 49th in the league in Icetime with a 22:45 per game average.

Tyler Myers has skated 20+ minutes for the past 27 consecutive game!
This is crazy! We all knew how good he was, but he is really reacting well to all the pressure, and is showing no signs of fatigue...
Really nice assist on the Ellis goal. Nice jumping in on the rush, and setting up the play/driving to the net.
We are going to be seeing a lot of this x10 in the next hopefully long time.

To put that into perspective, he's only not played 20 minues four games!

It's hard to see us as a bad team for a while with Myers and Miller in our end for years to come..

Right?

Not to mention with Ennis, Gerbe, Enroth, Kassian, possibly Adam, Weber, Gragnani, and others in the pipeline.

Nicely done Darcy. Very impressive.

Turns out Myers is tearing up the rookie charts.

omg r u Gary Hobson from Early Edition?

This quote from that article (in a part that is no longer about Myers lol) made me laugh:
Quote:
Miller beat Toronto for the third time Friday night and Leafs coach Ron Wilson, who will direct Team USA, was asked Thursday in Toronto how his team can improve against the NHL leader in goals-against average and save percentage.

Said Wilson: "I would be facetious and say, "Run the goalie,' but I can't do that. I might need him. ... If he can just settle down and be subpar or less than average, then we would have a chance."

7 of his 33 games he has played more than 25 minutes also.

Myers is 17th in points for a defensemen, the only younger defensemen with more points is Del Zotto, but Myers is a +9 and Del Zotto is a -12.

Just a little Calder talk.

Myers is 4th among all rookies in points, 1st among rookie defensemen.

He's tied for 4th among all rookies in +/-, tied for 3rd among rookie defensemen.

But the biggest deal, in my opinion is that he leads all rookies in ice time. All this at the end of the calendar year. Stud city.

TSN has already been doing the "Tavares or Myers" talks about the Calder, going so far as to have a discussion based around who a coach should build a team around - Tavares or Myers.

It seems Duchene has hit a wall, and Bergfors a hot streak. I wouldn't be against predicting Myers finishing third among rookies in scoring, at least.

The Pittsburgh crew were giving him a lot of respect, while calling last night's game..."The Big Man", "Buffalo's Rookie Phenom", "The Penguin's are giving him a lot of respect..." stuff like that.

I was surprised. The TSN crew always gives him praise as well...probably because he's a Canadian kid - But, there's a definite line of praise, all-round, addressing his skating; especially the fluidity and the ease by which he covers a great deal of ice, very quickly. And the general trend also extends to his confidence and decision-making.

I'm enjoying the aggressiveness he's begun to show. He's coming along well. His ice-time is some of the highest in the entire league.

Ruff's level of confidence in the kid must be sky-high...It's got to be a relief not to worry about having to dole out the time to Shakira and worry about turnovers.

Nevermind the relief of not having a Kalinin around, and the ulcers he brought so many people on so many shifts.

Now, that guy inspired true dread in me.

I commented in the GDT last night that while Myers doesn't hit a lot, his hits have been of the "Bitch! This is my turf!!" variety - gnarly, crunching hits behind the net or along the boards that assert his dominance in his zone.

It's funny that now when Lindy wants to "rest" Tyler for whatever reason, he only gets like 21:30 that night

I'm waiting for him to break the 30 minute barrier - I think Orr once played a 46 minute game...

Chara was almost twenty three before he started playing the amount of time, and producing offensive numbers he does today. He never has been able to skate like Myers.

Whether Myers develops physically like Chara remains a question mark. Chara is 250+; and that is amazing for a player of his calibur. Chara is also strong as a bull.

Myers has a long way to go in that department to match Chara.

THIS I did not know:

"...Penguins defenseman Ryan Whitney logged the most ice time in a single game, in Game 5 of this most recent Stanley Cup Finals, with 50:46."
