When he was scoring like a sumbitch last season, no one was harping on him for being one-dimensional cuz he was playing two way hockey and scoring boffo goals.

Hate on me - That's fine: Vanek for Hemsky, right now, one-for-one.

And yes, I know Hemsky's gone for the rest of the season. It just ain't working - Three years, now...it ain't working.

Send him to where he's wanted and get's a new start, and free up the cap with long-term IR, so we can all move on.

Suck it up and get a player or two that'll get you to the Cup.

My two.

Hey ice. You just might be 100% right on that!!!

He doesn't deserve any less criticism than he gets. He hardly ever hits, and I wouldn't even mind that, if he'd go into corners and come out with the puck. He does neither.

I'm a 100% fine with your opinion but at the end of the day this also is - like I said - a "contract issue".

I'm not complaining about the contract, not at all. He *can* be worth that money. My problem is that I know if *I* were being paid that, I'd think to myself every time I was put on the ice for a shift "I better put on a $4000 effort".

That's all fine and dandy, but if you were being over-paid, you wouldn't want to be criticized for being the things you never were(or even intended to be), right?

That's the main issue I think everyone has; the season before his huge contract was amazing. He did WORK.

I think ruff should rethink his desire to make vanek into a complete two way player, and just find whatever niche it is thomas needs to light the lamp.

That'd be tough to do if he wants to keep our system effective.

The goals will come with minor tweaks and better decisions. Right now, just let them be.

The system needs to incorporate Thomas just as much as Thomas needs to be incorporated into the system. Flexibility is what it needs. The idea that you can have 12 two-way forwards and win is silly. PLAYERS HAVE ROLES. Vanek is a GOAL-SCORER. If your NOT going to incorporate him into the team, then trade him ffs(or waive him, whatever; just like they did with Max).

I'm going to be blunt....Lindy tried to make a system that worked for the players. Then they brought in the Grier, and now the players change their game to work for the system. It is my wish daily that we will NEVER change the system for a player, ever again.

Fair enough, then bring in(or offer big contracts to) the RIGHT players for this system. Don't give them the money, then tell them to be someone else. If anyone wants more Jochen Hecht's, I'm sure there are plenty of teams out there ready to deal for a guy like Vanek anyday.

But come on guys - in all honesty - as things are settled right now it really doesn't matter what TV will do it will never be good enough for everbody. So maybe a trade - like Icehound said - shouldn't be out of the question. Maybe he'll be appreciated for what he is somewhere else (like Max). Then on the other hand who would even consider taking over Vanek's contract???

This is not going well.

If he's injured, the responsible thing is to admit it, and not play - If it's another Lindy "head-game"...This'll be another Max-like alienation and a lot of foot-dragging and ugliness for the duration of the contract.

It gets ugly enough that Vanek looks reeeeeally bad, and no one will pick up his contract.

This management team shocks me with their narrowmindedness and "tunnel-vision". I've seen better-run high-school teams.

*sigh*

Montreal took Gomez(wayy bigger rip-off), who is useless unless he has a Vanek on his line.

Vanek will never turn into Afinogenov. Every time Lindy has challenged him, he's stepped up to the plate.

Afinogenov thought he was above being challenged, and continued to play the way he wanted to.

Ya, thanks K. Sylvester for just telling us he won't be playing(no fucking explanation). Like we wouldn't have figured that out when he wasn't on the ice.

I'm sure RJ won't be a douche. It's against his creed.

So any details on why he's hurt other then upper body injury?

I never see Vanek being good defensively. People who say this, stop making stuff up. It NEVER happens. He SUCKS. Accept it.
