Haha okay.

That statement is antagonistic at best. C'mon. Tell us how you really feel about Pominville.

i dont find him to be a tremendous asset to the team. i feel the perception of him being a sound defensive player is based on his play from 2005-2007. since then, i feel he has been average at best defensively, and his offensive numbers have been in decline.

i also dont see the effort out of him i saw out of JP.

We'll just have to agree to disagree then. Because I see 10 times the effort out of Pominville on the backcheck in one game than I ever saw out of JP.

I do want to say that while I'll gladly be the first to toss a rock at Pommers, I do sure as hell hope he turns it around and proves us wrong. It's because I have seen, and expect, better from him.

Remember a couple years ago on the old boards there was some thread about him, and his blog had some comment about how he considers shooting his best skill. That just...utterly baffles me, the dude has a HORRIBLE shooting percentage, KALETA has about a third the shots pommers does, and he's only one goal behind him. Jason has disappeared, and while i've never been a huge fan of his, he has played better.

Vanek and Pomminville with picks and/or prospects for Kovalchuck with an 8 to 10 year contract for 8 to 10 mil a year. There ya go, problem solved.

In all fairness, I'm not saying that Pominville can be better. I recognize that he should use the wrist shot more, and that his touches haven't been up to par at times.

But I think people really underestimates the job he does away from the puck in terms of positioning, forechecking, hustling back on defense, and crashing the net.

He's not flashy. He needs to be open to make things happen with the puck.

But the way this team works this season, it seems to me that everyone here is undervaluing the amount of energy it takes to play this type of system.

When they're winning, it's because they're everywhere out there. This type of thing takes time to adjust to.

That's why I'm confident that we've only seen the tip of the iceberg with this team. They're only going to get better and better at playing this way.

Give them some time. It's the least you could do considering the amount of games they're winning.

The goals will come. We've seen them in spurts. It'll take time to achieve consistency, just like it took them time to learn to play with attitude consistently.

The one gripe I have about pominville is his ability to hit opposing players in the shins on point shots. The guy does a wicked shot, how often have we seen it in the shootout? He needs to utilize the wrist shot more.

Really? Thats your only problem with him?

How do you feel about him telegraphing every pass he's going to make while on the point on the PP? He looks at the person he's passing to, looks down at the puck, then passes. It's F-ing infuriating, and probably part of the reason our PP sucks, the passing in general is not great, but when he's 'distributing' the puck there are NO surprises to the PKers.

we can't get rid of pominville b/c then we would have even less scoring....darcy needs to acquire 2 more legit scoring threats on the wings....preferably wingers that are also physical...then we can send pominville to the 3rd or 4th line....

as far as the bashing goes yoshi.....i say keep it up....if you don't like the bashing and think all is well in sabres land, then don't read these threads.... BUT this team is NOT a contender at this point....Darcy better make some significant moves between now and the trade deadline, or we'll never make it to the finals

I hate Pominville on the point. Surprised he doesn't give up a couple breakaways a game. His passes are horrible, and so are his keep-ins.

Can someone please threadjack this? it seems like every other thread has a hate message for some player in it. We DO have a winning record, right?

Well, over thirty serious replies, so i'd say the general consensus is that we have a right to expect more from Jason, and to voice that displeasure.

It's not even up for debate anymore, people have the right to critically discuss the players on the hockey team they root for, they're even allowed to do this without being considered traitorous heathen trolls. You dont like it van_da_man, then go away.

No dude...the specific example I just gave. How is it part of the system to be so inept at knowing where the players are on the ice that you have to stare at your intended pass target for a second before actually passing it? Not telegraphing where the ball/puck is going is a pretty integral component of team sports (IMO), and he so utterly fails at that. I was curious if you agreed or disagreed with that.

Alright yank, I'm not saying people don't have a right to debate how he's playing, I'm just pointing out how rediculous it is that we are 21-10-3 after spending 2 years in the dark ages of playoff-less summers and you all are spending more time on "Zomg he sux" then ZOMG WE RULEZ like I'd expect out of a normal fan forum. I don't understand you people at all.
