I do believe I just heard, "And you can't have... a leaky Gustavsson."

That's going to be my new term for diahrrea, a leaky Gustavsson.

If you don't pull your big Toskala out soon enough, you're bound to end up with a leaky Gustavsson...

There are so many terms in hockey that just sound...wrong. I think my favorite will always be five hole.

There are so many VS things that drive me nuts:

Netminder and in the paint are two that come to mind. Grrr... Why can't it be goalie and crease?

because those are terms that everyone knows. it sounds so much cooler to use hockey lingo when talking about stuff.

the same is true for texas holdem too. its actually a lot worse, they have nicknames for every fucking hand you could possibly get. IE: pair of kings=cowboys, pair of aces=rocket ships, 7,2=doyel.

sometimes it sounds cool but for the most part it just makes you look like an idiot.

Pshaw! Any poker afficionado knows that the "doyel" is actually the Brunson (named after Doyle Brunson) and that it's actually a ten and a two. But yes, poker has much lingo. Almost like a secret language.

I think it makes them sound like dorks...

I love the poker lingo! The Jackson Five, etc...and I thought two aces were Pocket Rockets. I learned what I know playing at Buffalo Wild Wings...which brings to mind...Is Buffalo Wild Wings just called Wild Wings in Buffalo? (like Chinese food in China is called plain old food?)

The best part of knowing poker lingo is how you can use it against people. One of my friends I play with talks a TON of shit while playing. But in the process, he tends to work in vague references to these slang names for hands, and I totally use that against him on occasion.

For example, J5 = 'Jackson Five'. (If that's not obvious, jack and five.) Almost every time he has that hand, he'll say something that has a veiled Michael Jackson reference, or actually sing a Michael Jackson song. I find it hilarious that I'm the only one who's figured it out. :p

I love some of the poker slang. You'll always hear something new. My personal favorite recently was a pair of queens referred to as Sigfried and Roy. :)

Reminds me of the hockey commercial with Dennis Leary featuring hockey lingo. Something along the lines of "I snapped my twig on a one-timer but the biscuit went five-hole." You can get some very cryptic poker statements if you are unfamiliar with the lingo.

"I made a check-raise semi-bluff on the flop into a real donkey, missed my double gut-shot but backed into the second nut flush which turned out to be the cooler and it stacked me."
