The Sabres returned to practice today without rookie standout Tyler Myers, who appeared to suffer a shoulder or arm injury in a 2-1 overtime victory Monday night over Toronto. Myers played through discomfort in the third period but missed the workout this morning.

Patrick Kaleta also missed the workout today. He's been suffering from neck pain since Jarkko Ruutu nailed him when the winger wasn't looking last week. There was no word yet on whether Myers or Kaleta would be available for the game Wednesday night in Washington.

Chris Butler skated for the second straight day. Thomas Vanek had a limited workout while skating mostly with the fourth line.

Hate to see any type injury to Myers, especially since he is so young and not even close to done with his bone, ligament, cartilage, and muscle development. Hopefully it is pretty minor!!

According to Ruff, Myers was kept off the ice because of a sore groin and because he's lost some weight due to recording so much ice time.

According to Head Coach Lindy Ruff, Myers was given the day off to get some rest, due to a sore groin and the amount of ice time - nearly 23 minutes per game - he has been garnishing.

“He was one of the guys who got sick in Ottawa and was down some weight so we left him off there,” Ruff said. “When you get run down and you’re down some weight, there’s a good chance you can pull some muscles."

Psh can't even handle a wonky groin and thirty minutes of ice time. This kid was a first round pick?

That's disheartening. But he's a tough kid, hopefully the injury is minor and he'll be back tomorrow or Saturday.

So do we have an answer for that "who sits when Butler returns" question? :(

Myers "may be" injured. The kid is a fucking android, it seems. He's been nursing all sorts of bumps, bruises, and nicks all season - hell, he's had food poisoning - and he just keeps going.

Myers is really picking up his checking game.
He's been being a lot more physical in the last 3-4 games.
I wanted him to score so bad when he hit the post with that backhand.
He is going to be so AMAZING. I cannot even wait!!

Yea, he really has picked up the hitting. And not little pansy hits - he's been pasting guys along the corner boards.

I noticed a Leaf tried to go knee-to-knee in the near defensive corner, during the first period last night.

I was like: "....why you dirty sonofabitch..." But, it didn't much seem to affect Myers; unless it caught his inner-thigh and charly-horsed him some.

The kid's gonna have the cheap-shot artists gunning for him, as his reputation as a stalwart defender grows.

Fuckers will be coming out of the woodwork. He needs to keep his head up and look to punish any transgressors; Pronto.

with all these injuries, and since wee need offense any chance yall think ennis gets the call up. i mean we can send gerbe down cause he's injured for roster space. if myers can't play paestch at defense. i mean i don't want it to happen but we need to replace the scoring threat that vanek posed.

Can't send a player down while he's injured.

And I think Gerbe played pretty well while he was up here. He didn't look as lost in the defensive zone as he did last time, and he made a difference out there.

Ennis, on his last call up, was very impressive offensively, but he lacked a little on the defensive stuff.

They're both going to be good NHL players eventually.

I'm not sure, but to me it looked like he got speared or a stick got jammed between his shoulder and the boards.
