Penguins rout Senators, Alfredsson hurt

"The game couldn't have gone worse for the Senators, who are expected to be without captain Daniel Alfredsson for at least a few weeks after he left late in the first period with a left shoulder injury.

"I'll probably see the doctor [Thursday] and do an X-ray and see what the damage is," said Alfredsson, whose arm was in a sling. "But I expect at least a few weeks."

The loss of the team's career leader in virtually every relevant category and longest-serving captain in the league came on a night Ottawa welcomed back three regulars to the lineup after extended absences: goalie Pascal Leclaire (fractured cheekbone, out 15 games), winger Chris Neil (left knee, 14 games) and winger Shean Donovan (right knee, 17 games)."

I bet we'll still lose on Saturday, but I still have faith.

Pretty interesting that when Drury was hit in the head all the Ottawa announcers could say was that he didn't have his helmet strapped down right. Alfie's helmet was clearly loose as hell.

Fucking hypocrites.

I can't even pass judgment on the hit itself, can't tell if that's shoulder or head.

This brings an amazingly large amount of joy to my day upon reading this news and seeing this hit. Phil, you're not alone man. hahaha

This is a case of an eye for an eye, payback is a real fucking BITCH Ottawa. Remember the Drury hit? Karma, mother fuckers. That's what this is, Karma!

The only bad side of this now though, is if we beat these bastard ass-fucks on Saturday, then I'll hear all kinds of excuses as to why we beat them this time around. With most of their talented players being out. Then on the other hand, if we lose (again) it'll be, "See? We still beat you with our best players out! You guys SUCK!"

It's almost a lose/lose situation. But it'll be all win if Kaleta comes back and eats the leg off Ruutu. I want to see his blood spilled in a very bad way.

Aud, If we win there is no excuse. We just took advantage of the situation.

Oh I know this, BS1970. If we win, it's a win. Fair and square. But taking into consideration the people I know who pull for this team, they are almost as bad as "Make Belief" fans. There's always an excuse/reason for a win or loss. They can never just admit that a win is a win. And every time Ottawa beats us, I hear about it. Shit, everytime they win in general, I hear about it. I'm just tired of hearing their Bullshit.

I can handle a loss. It happens, but these guys... man oh man. They can never just plain out say, "We lost, you won". It just doesn't happen.

Listening to those Ottawa guys made me sick, they are hypocrites.

Yeah, pretty cool...but I'm sure we'll still lose to Ottawa even without their top 2 players.

True. But with their Captain out, and Goose back...I have a feeling we'll win.

Alfie out a month: Report

"...the Swedish newspaper Expressen reported Christmas Eve, after Alfredsson had seen team doctors, that he’ll be out four weeks but his chances of playing for Sweden in Olympics are not in jeopardy.

An official update will be provided this morning at the HSBC Arena, but there’s no reason to question the accuracy of the Swedish report. Two league executives said separated shoulders usually take 3-6 weeks to heal, depending on the severity."
