I delayed getting HD for several years because I thought prices were too high and the technology wasn't mature enough (and I was right)...but once I switched it was like night and day.

Sports are especially brilliant...watch Monday Night Football and you can count individual blades of grass on the field ;)

As far as hockey goes, Dish is better because (as you know by now) it still carries VS. I get to miss about 5-7 games this season since I have DirecTV.

Yeah, but Dish also doesn't have Sabres home games in HD.

It seems to be a wash between the two right now.

The only sabres games on Dish that will be in HD are ones on Versus, or Center Ice, the MSG network only broadcasts Knicks games in HD. So yup... I cant wait to watch a versus game! lol

DirecTV can't put home games in HD either because it's a conflict between MSG and Comcast.

Not quite.

DirecTV has the home games in HD in the Buffalo market, as far as I know (unless they removed them recently).

The conflict is between MSG, owned by Cablevision, and the NHL, affecting Center Ice. MSG won't let CI carry the HD feeds for their games.

Has nothing to do with Comcast.

Comcast owns Versus however, and DirecTV doesn't have an agreement with them to carry Versus.

There's nothing like watching hockey in HD...it really is like night and day. Wish I got the Sabres in HD. I find it funny that Verizon FiOS is one of the Sabres's sponsors, yet they don't even get MSG in HD.

Now, won't that change next season when MSG is spun off into it's own entity?

Something about Cablevision will no longer own MSG and it'll be it's own entity. That's what I heard.
