THIS I did not know:

:o

I'd bet his legs were crying for the next few months...

...hold on - The quote referred to the '08 Finals.

That game went to triple OT - Whitney wasn't on last year's squad.

:D

Yup...that was it.

You know, I might not mind Myers trading off a little bit of weight/strength/meanness if he can keep his offensive skills and skating. To have someone that size, who can skate like he does, combined with his aggressive offensive instincts... This is a once in a franchise type of deal here. There have been other big, strong, mean defensemen. I think something along those lines could be picked up/traded for with not too much given up. How much would Myers be worth on the open market? If he tops out at 230-235 and only gets somewhat stronger and meaner than he is now, that's still pretty beastly. I mean, it's already been mentioned. He hasn't thrown a ton of hits, but the ones he's thrown have really pasted guys into the boards/glass/ice.

He actually has said he wants to top out at 235. I would love for him to be lean and mean. Hell, Pronger is a mean sumbitch and he's 6'6" and 232 lbs.

Another tid-bit for all the proud fans, courtesy the New York Times:

Image

Imposing Buffalo Rookie Tops High Expectations

"BUFFALO — No one on the Buffalo Sabres steps over the boards as often as Tyler Myers, who leads the team in shifts and in ice time. And no one steps over them quite like Myers, a rookie defenseman with legs long enough to vault the three-and-a-half-foot wall in front of the Buffalo bench with room to spare.

At 6 feet 8 inches, Myers is not the tallest player in the N.H.L. That honor goes to Zdeno Chara, the Boston Bruins’ 6-9 behemoth. But with the exception of goaltender Ryan Miller, the 19-year-old Myers has been head and shoulders the best player for the Northeast Division-leading Sabres, and is a surprise contender for the Calder Trophy as the league’s top rookie.

Playing on Buffalo’s No. 1 pairing, against the N.H.L.’s premier forwards — the likes of Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby, Washington’s Alex Ovechkin, and Toronto’s Phil Kessel — Myers has piled up impressive statistics. He leads all rookies in assists (16), blocked shots (60) and ice time, playing an average of 22 minutes 47 seconds per game. He ranks tied for fourth on Buffalo and tied for sixth among rookies at plus-6."

...don't know if this was the same article, Phil...But, there ya go. More butt-smooching for the Big Fella. Enjoy.

It happened in 07-08 and it went into triple overtime which the Pens won.
