To return to the New Year's disappointment discussion, here are my thoughts:

For those of us old enough to have been through New Year's 1999, it's tough to get so pumped again after the thrill of rolling over the odometer to 2000. Which is not to say that it was the best New Year's of my life, because it wasn't. My main point here is, what's the big deal celebrating 2009 or 2010 after the millenium?

It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

I can't believe I didn't puke last night after drinking gin and tonics on top of oysters and jumbo shrimp.

That is something we can all agree is a good thing.

I can understand that.

Sometimes the best aspects of my personality do not come out when typing on the boards (especially during the political discussions). From time to time I have to take a step back, as well. I would guess that ETC in person is somewhat different than the ETC we know from his posts, as is, I'm sure, the case with all of us.

I like that people are keeping the pub up and running until his return.

I've had to take a step away for a little bit when things get really negative in here after a couple of losses.

Or there are times when I get so frustrated about topics that I have to stay out of them.

I've never felt as though I've needed a break though. I like discussing hockey here amongst other things, and I feel like I don't stray too far away from my actual personality, if even at all.
