Forwards -
David Backes
Dustin Brown
Ryan Callahan
Chris Drury
Pat Kane
Ryan Kesler
Phil Kessel
Jaime Langenbrunner
Ryan Malone
Zach Parise
Joe Pavelski
Bobby Ryan
Paul Stastny

Defense -
Erik Johnson
Jack Johnson
Mike Komisarek
Paul Martin
Brooks Orpik
Brian Rafalski
Ryan Suter

Goalie -
Ryan Miller
Tim Thomas
Jonathan Quick

I'm pretty unimpressed with Drury, and Langenbrunner, Malone, and Orpik aren't that strong. Forwards like Gaustad, Matt Cullen, Byfuglien, and Knuble or Guerin would be better options than Drury. Ryan Whitney, James Wisniewski, Tom Gilbert, Keith Ballard, and Zach Bogosian are better than Brooks Orpik. Clearly though, Drury is the weakest choice. I hate to say it but there are at least ten better players right now.

Too many Sabres if you include Gaustad. Really, he would be a great addition, but no. Let's only have 1 Sabre. If Miller wasn't on their I would have shot myself.

I don't care how many Sabres are there. Drury shouldn't be and there's a bunch of better players from around the league that can easily replace him.

Yeah. His career sucks ever since he left Buffalo.

While this is true, the guy has a pedigree of winning, and being clutch. He may have floundered in the Big Apple, but I'm sure that same drive is there. They're gonna want some veteran leadership on the team.

I think there are better players than Drury, but who else would you want to be the Captain of that team, especially if they excluded the only other players to play in an olympics.

GAUSTAD.

He has 10 points, Drury has 14, but Goose has played 7 less games and Goose is a great two way player. He is like a Mike Grier. Btw, why did Drury make it with 14 points and Grier not make it with 14 points? Is Grier Canadian?

I don't think Grier is Canadian. He and Drury were roommates at Boston University and have been best friends ever since then.

17% of that roster is from WNY.

Wow... I would take Grier over Drury honestly. Good PK and good getting the puck out of the zone guy.

I'm somewhat annoyed by the comments on TSN where people think Orpik is from New England, not Buffalo.

...Drury has previous Olympic experience on top of his obvious leadership abilities.
I'm sure that factored in to the decision.

I am really really excited about this team. Seems like a fast and hard-working team. Not to mention you have the best goalie in the league. This team will medal. Without a doubt.

Agreed.

He really hasn't done shit since he left. I wasn't surprised he was named to the roster though...I'm sure NBC will be milking his "Little League All American hero" story as much as possible during games.

Dru and Langenbrunner are gamers. Malone is a good, big, strong forward. Orpik handles his own zone with teeth.

I'm not sure any of your other guys really are hands down better choices. Sure you could make arguments for some of them, and maybe your best argument is for Guerin. I'll include him as a gamer too.
