[quote="fly as hale"]It's to make room for Biron since the Isles just activated DiPietro to their roster.

Or it could be to make room for Datsyuk because apparently he wants a trade and Buffalo is his #1 choice.

where did you hear this from? anyone else hear this?

Eh, Mair and Patches aren't worth arguing or anything like that over, so let's go on to this Datsyuk thing I hear...

Paetsch getting waived is just a numbers thing. I like who he has become since a few seasons ago, he has become tougher and plays well on the fourth line as a grinder. He will prolly get picked up by another team that needs a utility man, sucks because he has more talent, heart, and energy than Ellis.

Paetsch is gone after this season anyway as a UFA. With the playing time he's not getting, this is a favor to him in order to play somewhere else or in Portland. The same logic was used for putting Mair on waivers.

Nothing to see here folks...nothing to see.

Eh, still. Mair is more valuable to the team than Patches. That's why they play him more.

Patches is a defenseman who has enough offensive ability that he can play

If you had to make me choose between them, I take Patches, mostly because you can never have enough defenseman.

Especially after the 06 ECF... :x

How long does someone have to put in a claim on him?

I believe there's an order involved based on what place someone is in the league, too, but I can't remember.

I think it either the worst team overall last year or the worst team right now.

It goes by standings now, the worst team gets first dibs on a guy, I'm not sure if it just goes in order and they get a certain time to claim or not really?

My guess is that Regier has offered him up and nobody was willing to trade for him.

Regier has offered up other guys before (Max, Mair, etc.) and nobody has wanted them.....

He cleared.

The Sabres literally could not give away Mair or Paetsch.

Paestch has played very good, reliable hockey every time he's been in the lineup this season.

I'm baffled that he wasn't picked up. He'd make a pretty decent bottom 4 defender on many teams.

I've always liked Paetsch too. I've always been impressed with his work ethic, even though he's always in the press box more times than not. That's got to be tough, but he never seems to let it get to him. All he seems to do is work hard when he's called upon.
