Not sure if anyone has posted a thread about this yet but does anyone feel like it's 2006 again? This team reminds me so much of that team. Flying under the radar, no quit, gritty, never out of a game, great goaltending and it's an Olympic year. The parallels are scary. Or should I say "scary good"?

Muhahahaha look out NHL come April. No one is taking us seriously now. They will all hear us come April.

Let's Go Buffalo!!!!

Davey! :o I didn't know you were posting again!

When that comparison was made last year, I scoffed and scoffed and scoffed some more. They were not even in the playoffs when those whispers started, and I thought there was a tad too much audacity in them for them to be taken seriously at all.

I don't mind it now.

I would say it's pretty fair to compare the 2 teams.. Plus we have Grier back :D :D :D But this time it's a slower and more defensive team(which Im alright with)..

You gotta put up the Darth Vader avatar if you want me to believe that comparison at this time. They also have to lose to Ottawa 10-4.

Good to see you around though.

When I got the text stating that Grier signed with the team, I legitimately did not believe it until I checked the Sabres' site.

He was the one player I never thought would ever be back. Ever. His parting words were not kind, to say the very least. And they were truthful, so why would he come back?

It was nice, though. Definitely a vindication of my belief that the front office had changed, based on their actions in the years after the 2006 fiasco.

I received the text while on a vacation in Maine, I almost sh!4 myself in the hotel room.

A lot of snooty people use "eat crow".

The Sabres are very well rounded as they were in 06, rolling four lines, but this time it fits the 2010 season with a little more grit to deal with the way the game has evovled.

Yo dawg, I heard you liked crow, so we put a crow in your crow so you can eat crow while you're eating crow.

For last year? They were pretty bad when that comparison was starting to be made last year. :P They were still all right, and they very likely would have made the playoffs as a 4-6 seed had Miller not been injured, but I don't think they'd have gotten all that far in the postseason, which is always the focus anyway.

Speaking purely in terms of winning a Stanley, to my eyes, anyway, there's been a somewhat substantial change in expectation between the two years. Each season is a separate entity. I don't know exactly how to phrase this because I'm very tired and foggy... so I won't try. :P I think you sort of get the idea of what I'm trying to say, anyway, even though I really didn't even start saying it; the rest was just an intro haha.

Lots of similarities, for sure.

Just get that power play going and we're golden.

Davey! Awesome to see you again, if it is [i]indeed[i] you. We definitely seem to be flying under the radar a little bit this season... if it wasn't for Miller.

I love that song even though it's dorky as hell and the dark hair chick is kind of ugly and annoying.
