I think I have that under control now...a packet sniffer was involved, it wasn't pretty.

I'll take care of the aesthetic fixes in the morning.

Was it coming from the old banner?

No. Actually, none of the files it was alerting on were actually the culprit. It was a compromised theme I had installed. There are sites out there that take legitimate themes, install malware in them and repackage them as the original.
I just had to find the site of the author to get an uninfected copy.
You'd think I'd know better, right? ;)

Haha I don't know anything about this stuff!

Good looking out though. I don't think I could be infected anyways because I'm on a mac... but I could be wrong.

Hey XC,
Sorry to bring this thread up again, but I received a pm from MakinItLookMean on the other site and his McAfee won't let access this site. How did the other McAfee users get around this or was the problem supposed to have been fixed?

Thanks

I installed Kaspersky, which seems more paranoid than anything else and it doesn't complain.
Anyone else having a problem?

I can't view some users avatars on my computer, but can on others. I got the virus/malware message initially using Avast antivirus/Firefox browser. Any reason why I can't seem some people's avatars?

Well....some people don't have one set. It may be as simple as that :D

FYI,
I've put up a simple static html front page and I'm ditching the joomla CMS because it seems that was also adding redirects etc. and causing people grief.

Does it tell you the source file doing the redirect?
My machine here at work is BSD so I see none of this silliness.

It has to do with the links at the top of the page but haven't been an issue since you programmed all of them to link to sites - it was only a problem while they were still called "title 1", etc etc

See, this is why nerds make fun of windows ;)

Same thing with the "virus / trojan" warnings before. All of them were simply links to non-existent items and windows security software has to be so paranoid it freaks out on that.

Don't worry, my server is linux and the code is clean. I wouldn't be pushing viruses on you guys....or would I?

Well, I've been thinking about playing around with Linux.

...okaaaayyyy...how about this trick: Make a single button called "Links" with a drop-down menu to the listed links...It would look more elegant than the current setup.

I know, I know: "Shut-up, Ice..."

See, I'm lazy....no, make that pragmatic.
Yeah I know, I was just getting it up there with the html I know off the top of my head.
I'll put it in a drop down array later :P

But look what else I just did...the "last post" column on the board index now lists the topic title and not just the username ;)

man my html and php is rusty.
