I truly think if the Tampa Bay Lightning had competent goaltending, they would be in the same situation as us.

Plenty of teams lose because their goaltending is not very good, we hae incredible goaltending and that is a part of building a winning team.

Every team that is leading their divisions, most of them have some sort of good goaltender who can keep them in games.

New Jersey has Martin Broduer, San Jose has Nabakov, Chicago has Huet and Neitti playing great, Washington has a very good young goaltender in Varlamov, Vancouver has Luongo, Phoenix is riding Bryzgalov, the Flames have Khabibulin, and many other NHL teams have good goalies.

You see the teams who do not have solid goaltending failing during their games. How many times have you seen Toronto lose because their goaltending is terrible, their top scorers have more goals and points than our team, The Ducks are a super talented group of players, but their goaltending is terrible right now, Tampa Bay has some great players and scorers but they do not have the goaltending to compete with other teams.

Without Miller we'd be nothing more than Toronto, or Tampa. I know that, but good teams need good goaltending because that is how teams win, they rely on their goaltender to win games when they aren't clicking.

Stop as this talk about scoring and shit because we have good goaltending, and we've seen this team come back from 3 goals down, and win those close games. This team is much more mature than two years ago and last year. When we took a one goal lead we all knew they would fuck it up, this year we have confidence in the team because they can hold onto that lead and win it, and still not go into a complete defense shell and only hope to not get scored against.

This team has matured from the failures, and this team can beat any team out there, we've already beaten the best in the West and The East, we've also started to not entirely play down to our opposition. This team may not have the biggest scoring threat in the league, but do we REALLY need it? Look at what we've done right now, and tell me would it matter if we had Ovechkin or Crosby, Malkin, Heatley, Thorton, Toews, or Kane? Would they be the only reason why we are succeeding? Or is this team actually a good team, who plays a defensive system that keeps the good shots away and can capitalize on it's chances? Is this team suppose to score 5-7 goals a game and have 4 scored against, or is this a team that will win the tough games of 1-0 or 2-1 now?

In the past we lost those games and relied on scoring 5 goals a game, and it got us nowhere, look at the past Cup Winners, many of those teams won the one goal games throughout the season, and many had great defenses, and they relied on a defensive system to win and a goaltender to help put them over the top.

Hiller's save % is still pretty good, but his GAA is killing them(well, Giggy is actually what's killing them). They just put a beating on Detroit last night, so I hope that things turn around soon.

Anyways, their playoff run last year supports your theory too. Without Hiller standing on his head, they would have been bounced way sooner. Teams can't always be expected to outscore the opposition. It requires too many guys to be playing hard every night. If you have a determined goalie with great stamina, it will take you farther for sure.

I think Barry Melrose is the only person in the whole wide world that thinks the Sabres outside of Miller are awesome. That's the reasoning he gave for why Miller should win the Vezina, but not the Hart.

Non sequitur: every time I come to Sabres Hockey and see the title of this thread, I mentally sing the title to the melody "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas," but when I get to the 2005-2006 part, my mind never knows what to do because it's impossible to fit nine syllables into a space allotted for two.

ME TOO!!!

But I sing it like, "It's beginning to look a lot like oh six!"

On that note, I believe the Sabres are a very good team outside of Miller. I've been pitching it all season, and I'm sticking too it.

If you think these guys look competitive now, just wait until the final stretch heading into the playoffs rolls around.

These guys are going to be SCARY GOOD!

HAHAHAHA I forgot all about that one. I remember that 10 game losing streak well as it started right after Christmas and went almost to the end of January. That's my old house too haha. I need to make a new video. Soon I promise and we'll drink again Schony!!!!

Good times.
