I am all for this idea, sound's very interesting to say the least. What's the worst that can happen it looks bad, so then stop production. If you love this sport you would want it to grow right? Well i know of alot of people who just can not get into hockey because the movement of the puck is too fast, maybe this 3-D revelation could help them see the puck better.

When I'm a grandmother I will be able to tell my grandchildren not only that we had televisions that did not have remotes but that we had 2D.

i think 3d hockey could be pretty cool. that being said, ESPN doing a 3d channel is dumb as hell.

I am willing to give 3D sports television a shot. Maybe it won't work on the small screen (even though many tv screens aren't so small anymore). If that were the case I would consider going to a movie theatre to watch the Sabres play in 3D on the big screen. 3D sports could be a whole new revenue stream for cinemas.

At the risk of being pelted with tomatoes I also think the NHL should revisit computer enhanced digital technology to help viewers follow the puck. The original "glowing puck," officially know as Foxtrax, has been widely lampooned and parodied by hockey purists, but it has been nearly 15 years since the NHL tried that experiment and technology has come along way since then.

I am willing to try anything that visually enhances the viewing experience, brings the viewer closer to the ice, and which helps more people enjoy this sport.

Ok, let the tomatoes fly.

It's called HD.

That being said, I think the 3D movie theater idea is really cool.

I have a device that enhances my ability to enjoy Sabres hockey even though I never get to the games. It's called Rick Jeanneret On The Radio.
Honestly, I'd rather listen to him on the radio than try to watch Versus and some idiot, biased announcers. I think he's the reason I learned to love hockey so much. A good announcer can make or break a team with their visual descriptions and enthusiasm.

I never minded the glowing puck. I never really got what the fuss was about beyond the fact that it changed how the puck performed on the ice.

The glowing puck was one of the stupidest things I have ever seen in any professional sport.

Ummmm You're not old enough to say that. Remotes were introduced well before you or I was even born.

You could say you have seen the Dial knobbed TV's, but you weren't around when Black and White and no remote TV's were being produced.

They need helmet cams, if you can have helmet cams for everything else, why not on the players.

Cameras are small enough to not make any nuisance also. Or have the goalies have Helmet cams so you could see a puck coming at you and just be amazed at how he can stop a puck traveling that fast, or even see it.

I think they need to seriously try out helmet cams though.

Remotes were not manufactured for the TV my family used for the first seven or eight years of my life (I think I was eight when my aunt gave us her old TV...). SNES wasn't even compatible with it.

It had silver buttons on the right of the screen in a column that you had to press for different channels. They were for channels 2-14, and when it was on a certain channel, a number indicating which one it was would light up to the left of the button.

I still had that TV with rabbit ears in my room until last year, when television became purely digital. I would watch NHL games on NBC and various other things on it when the TV downstairs was being used.

Seriously, it's not like its that different from the NFL having the first down line on the field.
