I'm basically the least superstitious person I know...but HOLY JINXALOTOPUSS BATMAN, I cant believe we're talking about this halfway through the season. You've gauranteed a late-season swoon, and missing the playoffs by 2 points.

SHUTOUT SHUTOUT! :)

It would be nice to beat Ottawa, but that would have to be a 1st rd match-up. After that I'd prefer we beat the best teams out there, probably Pit or Washington, and then NJ in the East finals. If Buffalo actually won the Cup, I wouldn't want anyone to be able to say, "Well they were lucky because they didn't have to face _______ in the playoffs".

After that, Vancouver would be an interesting SC final between the two 1970 expansion teams, or so far the best in the West, Chicago with the hometown boy.

I know and agree with you, but this isn't really about this season or any particular season. It is about the fantasy series that plays in your head (you know it does, admit it) when you think about the Sabres winning it all. That is why Toronto can be included on the list.

It would have to be a fantasy world for the Leafs to make it to the ECF.
:D

Alright good sir, I will accept your jinx exception with this hypothetical scenario.

And...i'll go for the canes. just because I want to be here (Raleigh, of course) when we BEAT them in a series. Hell, they all (read...ALL) already hate the sabres and their fans...i'd like it to be with good reason. :)

Best answer yet.

Also, not to be too repetitive or a buzz kill, but BUFFALO HASN'T EVEN MADE THE PLAYOFFS YET!!!!!!

This is all hypothetical situations.

If we were about to beat one team to advance to the Stanley Cup, who would you like to see get beat?

OK, hypothetically, I'd pick the Leafs. First because i hate them, second because I think the Sabres would dominate them.

Ottawa won't be in the ECF because they suck, I would love to see Washington get knocked out. I hate the Caps and OV and lots of there other players.

There is nothing that I'd love to see more than the league's poster boy fall to the mighty Buffalo Sabres.

It'd be the biggest ass kissing fest for Buffalo in history.

Plus, we owe them for spoiling our Winter Classic.

The Senators, easily.

I'm glad to see some Rangers hate in here, though. I have loathed that team my entire life for absolutely no reason at all. It's nice to have some company.

If we are going completely over the top fantasy then what I really want is for the Sabres to put together such a dominant team that decades from now when people debate what was the greatest team in NHL history, they say, "after the Sabres, of course" (feel free to insert "Bills" for a parallel fantasy).

Wash away all those tired old jokes about Buffalo and Buffalo sports teams.

Ottawa. Always Ottawa until some other huge event or series of events creates the next biggest rivalry. Two straight postseasons against them. The Drury hit, the brawl. It may be only recent, but these two teams have history.

God I fucking hate ottawa.

I dont want it to be ottawa for the simple fact that I never want them to make the playoffs again.

Any team would be fine with me...just as long as the Sabres get a chance to win the Cup
