Proximity is one thing; but this rivalry was cemented the moment former Toronto Coach and GM Punch Imlach was hired by The Knoxes to run The Sabres.

Even the original uniforms closely resembled The Leafs threads. At one point the league had Buffalo modify the uniforms to look less like The Leafs uni's.

I remember games having a great atmosphere for The Leafs in the early and mid - late seventies. I remember taunting going on between fans at The Aud. "As soon as you assholes get back over into Canada, we're going to burn down The Peace Bridge so you'll stay there!"

Beautiful.......

That is endearing!!!

Ryan should stop listening to the media. Maybe that means WGR or the Buffalo News should shut up or he should stop reading the Toronto Sun. I don't even know where it originated so I can't comment further.

The one thing I did like in that clip was at the end; "An hour & a half and they're home"

He's probably not listening to the media but he's being interviewed too on a daily basis so they talk to him there and some toronto media probably said the leafs made it public that they will try and get to you by crashing the net, how do you feel about that? Thats how Miller knew this stuff. I should hope he is smarter than to read the paper and listen to those idiots.

Even if he does stop reading and listening, he's still going to get an earful whenever he does pre-game and post-game interviews. The media will always bring up that stuff when interviewing him.

It seemed pretty obvious to me Ryan was showing some emotion. I don't like when goaltenders show emotion. Stone cold is how I like 'em. It's all about will, not attitude. Anyways, I don't think this is a big deal(at least for now).

Whatever, I like a player that has some passion

Emotion is one of the most essential motivators in sports.

This is not a bad thing at all.

He made a subtle jab at Briere too...that's just Miller's M.O.

Sounds to me, and this has been my opinion of Miller for a few seasons, that he's the one playing the mind games and not the one getting played.

Miller in 50 years? Wouldn't surprise me at all

Some of you may think that Leafs fans are the most vile creatures on earth but we should all know different. What fans boo every player that left their team? What fans boo their own team every second night? What fans boo Luke Schenn because he is the Leafs best prospect? What fans have a riot and tear up their own city when their best player gets suspended?

Montreal Fans.

Well, I can certainly bet we really fucking hate Habs fans, too (I know I do!, moreso than Leafs fans for numerous reasons). The thing is, Montreal isn't 90 minutes up the road.

At this point, I thought you were referring to Sabres fans. Haha.

Me too, but then I remembered the rounds of applause for JP Dumont, Jay McKee, and the standing ovation for Marty this season.

It is impossible to hate on them.

Especially Biron. :romance-inlove:

Where I'm from everybody is either a Leafs fan or a Canadiens fan. I don't have the same feelings as people who live in Buffalo I guess but I absolutely, positively can't stand Canadien fans. I think they hate themselves sometimes.
