I'm quite sure this is not the last of this story...

"It was personal. It started in warmup, before the anthem," Burrows said of Auger's penalty calling. "(Auger) came over to me and he said I made him look bad in Nashville on the (Jerred) Smithson hit and he said he was going to get me back tonight."

If the official really told him he was going to get payback during warm ups for something that was out of Burrows' control, I don't think that will be the case.

This is obviously going to be a very interesting situation.

I dunno about that. Luongo and Vigneault made comments backing him up on this.

Quote:
"I'm not the type of guy to make excuses - I mean, that's not who I am, but I've never seen anything like it in my whole career," Luongo said. "That was the first time I've seen calls like that, especially when the game is on the line."

It was a bad call but the NHL hates it when players say bad stuff about officials.

And the players and fans hate when the refs decide the game's outcome...

If these allegations are true, I think this ref is going to lose his job.

Why does it warm my cockles to see a ref called out for bias and humiliated in public? Love this story...absolutely love it.

The refs are really screwing with Burrows; I mean he only has something like 10 goals in his last four games....

Shocking. Really.

He should too but I don't like seeing that Bettmans will be "heavily involved" in the investigation. We all know he favors the officials and will not doubt affect the integrity and probable outcome it.

of course he favours officals. its called backing your employees. when you fuck up at your job, and you have a customer complaint, doesnt your boss back you up to save face, but have a talk with you behind closed doors? or tell the customer, "he did his job correctly, but i'll make an exception for you," backing you up?

Seems pretty elaborate to me, for someone who is just "whining" about poor officiating. And other guys backing him up? If it's true, I hope this ref gets his head on a pike for the other douchebag refs out there who think they have the right to make games swing in their favor and use penalties for their own personal issues.

Okay so the refs can be total douchebags and rule the game and do what ever they want and NOT get talked about?

And hey, this could scare refs to make bad calls, and improve that aspect of the game.

The ref should be canned immediately if the allegation is true.

Burrows is not whining at all. He is justified.

Bettman should not be "backing up" anyone who is so grossly tainting the sport.

well, if the allegations are true, bettman will remove him and not back him up. but if its just sour grapes, then my previous post stands true.
