Sneaky, I was extreeeeeemly anti gay people in the 70's and 80's. I've come a loooong way since then to where I am now. Back then, the gay people I knew were really creepy. Its hard to like an entire set of people when the only people you know from that set are just really weird.
However...later in life, I worked with a woman that was gay and she was just so nice and we became very good friends. Then I met a gay man at my next job and he and his partner were so committed and such a well-rounded couple that I realized it was gay people I had a problem with, it was weird people.
However...my former opinion on gay people, the one in the 70's and 80's, is the unfortunate opinion of a lot of 'normal' (i put it in quotes so as not to be berated for my use of the term) people on the gay community. All they see is the Gay Pride marches on the news and the people on MTV. So, that way, when they see a person that is outwardly gay, they are prone to think they are really the flamboyant examples they see on TV. Ignorant? Yes. But it is what it is.
My main concern is the abuse of marriage by all people. If (CV or Phil...can't remember) you are unable to stay with someone until you are a hundred, you shouldn't get married. You should just live together. Marriage isn't for you. And that's okay. Divorce is expensive, lengthy, heartbreaking and messy. Moving out takes a weekend and a U-haul rental. If marriages were as hard to get into as they are to get out of, we would see way less divorces. IMHO
I'll be waiting to be attacked like a bag of doritos being descended upon by a flock of seagulls at the beach...
