Quote:
Netminder Nikolai Khabibulin will indeed require back surgery, putting a premature end to the controversial acquisition's first season with the Edmonton Oilers.

He's been out since the last week of November while the club waited and hoped that the disc problem would heal on its own, but it hasn't.

Khabibulin will have surgery tomorrow in Los Angeles.

He played in 18 games before going down, posting a 7-9-2 record, 3.03 GAA and .910 save percentage.

Critics feared something like this would happen from the first day Khabibulin signed here.

The deal raised all kinds of eyebrows, given Khabibulin's age (he's 37 now), history of injuries (he's only played more than 50 games once in the last six seasons) and duration (four years, $15 million).

sorry ETC look like no Marty for us

The Edmonton Oilers are currently the Buffalo Bills of The NHL.

(Only they have a coach, and their quarterback is better.......)

And we can expect Sheldon Souray to be on a one way ticket to anywhere right, about.... NOW!

He's already told the club that if a trade comes along to better the team involving him, to make it. Well, I think they need to get better between the pipes

Hey at least they have Jordan Eberle as a prospect, other than that they have nothing.

philly has an extra goalie as well with the rise of leighton. i mean edmonton could go after boucher, or emery, or biron.

hah everyone called that he would get hurt. o well, better luck next year.

the laugh was to the inevitability that this was going to happen. for the first 4 years of the 5 year contract or whatever he signed with Chicago he was constantly hurt.
