I desperately hope that the earthquake in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, doesn't end up having a death toll similar to the tsunami's five years ago (FANTASTIC recovery from that has been made, by the way; I was absolutely floored looking at pictures), but I'm not too optimistic because it sounds really bad so far. It hit the worst possible place... Not only is the population density there greater than that of NYC, but it's where the government is located (yeah, all those buildings are gone), and was the only place in the entire country with residents that could claim some kind of "wealth" and the only place in the country that provided some measure of jobs.

My friends and I sponsor some kids, and one of them lives in Haiti. I'm not sure exactly where, but I'll find out. :/

I'm beginning to despise double shifts on Wednesdays. I think they're taking their toll on me. The fact that I'm even in here mentioning it, means it might be time for a change. Maybe I need a real job like everybody else.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday. My head was spinning because I was so stressed out about the thought of trying to find a new job. Since I'm going to school full-time, all I can do right now is get a part-time job. I want a job where I can make tips, I want to get a waitressing job or something.

Will do.

Honestly, I love sitting around smoking hookah, and playing PS3, especially after a quick workout with tony horton...

PS. anyone looking to get a good 20 minute work out in, check out tony hortons newer program 10 minute trainer...I do the cardio tape every day, and either the power build or the ab work out after, takes about 20-25 mins to complete, but I'm seeing significant results, even after 3 days, I've lost like 7 pounds; not too shabby, although most of it was what I call "holiday weight" it's definitely worth the investment.

Have you ever noticed that, ugly people are always in relationships, and beautiful people are always in relationships, but rarely do you meet marginally attractive people in relationships, they're holding out for the beautiful people or something...I dunno

I watched the Big Lebowski earlier. I don't know what's worse, the fact that it's pretty much all I've accomplished today, or the fact that I'm totally okay with it.

I have indeed noticed this.

My theory is that the uglies are desperate and date each other, and everybody wants to date the beautiful people, but the rest, psh, forget them.

I'm almost twenty and have yet to be in anything close to a relationship. Don't care at all if I never am in one. Everybody else I know who is in my age group wants to get married eventually (well, most of them, anyway); I just want kids.

Queen Amidala's whole palace from Star Wars Episode I is in Spain.
Makes me want to reevaluate my whole "no study abroad" policy.

Glee is actually a pretty damn amazing show.

Skeptical at first, but feel in love with the writing of the show.

And "Naboo" is in Italy. And the surrounding area is in Lake Como, Italy (Como Lake around here is named after that one).

Ever since I looked into it and found out that studying abroad for a semester in Ireland would cost exactly the same as a semester at my college, leaving me to just cover airfare, I've been dying to go. I keep bringing it up to my parents... Maybe second semester next year.

Depending on where you go to school, it might not be that much more than normal tuition. You'd just have to pay for the cost of your plane tickets and, in most cases, food once you're over there, but I already pay for half my meals, anyway. It's something to look into.

Well I like to be entertained by a pretty great show.

It has really great writing and such, and it isn't what you think it's really about.

My father is a nurse in the reserves. He's part of a mobile hospital unit that basically sits around doing nothing all the time and has never once been utilized in the seven years he's been in it. They all just continue to work at VA hospitals.

The reserves are meant precisely for situations like what is happening in Haiti right now. They're still not going to be used, muuuch more likely than not (they weren't sent to give assistance in the aftermath of the tsunami, so I think that's a pretty safe assumption to make).

I don't understand. That place has virtually no healthcare to begin with, and the only hospital in the surrounding area is gone. Organizations have sent a lot of medical aid, but come on, now. This is why the reserves exists.

55-60% of Ontario Colleges teachers have voted to strike, so in 5-14 days I might have an extended holiday. :?
