A little off topic but when it comes to Late Night Shows Lettermann beats everyone else by far despite having that creepy Paul Shaffer dude next to him...

I don't find Leno funny at all.

Just my $0.02...

I'm a big Conan fan, so I'm backing him in this fiasco. Leno seems like a classy guy. NBC just look like douche bags.

That being said, I don't watch any of the late night talk shows any more. Even with my DVR where I can record them and watch them any time I want. I think for the Tonight Show, bringing in Richter in the role he's in has been a mistake, which is a shame, because loved Andy during his first stint with Conan. I don't know what's changed, me, Andy or just his position, but it doesn't work for me.

I'll be keeping an eye on this situation... barely.

Meanwhile, a study emerged Wednesday illustrating just how damaging Leno's prime-time show was to NBC's local stations.

The research firm Harmelin Media said local NBC stations saw their late news audience drop by an average of 25 percent in November compared with the previous year among 25- to 54-year-old viewers. That's the demographic upon which news advertising rates are based.

The decline was particularly steep in some of the largest markets: 48 percent in New York, 43 percent in Los Angeles and 47 percent in Philadelphia.

NBC cited concerns among its 210 local stations in ditching the weeknight experiment of "The Jay Leno Show" at 10 p.m. The network wants to move Leno back to 11:35 for a half-hour show.

The local stations blame Leno for their news ratings going down because he provide a lousy "lead-in," which is television terminology for people keeping their TV set on one station because they were watching something there previously.

Plenty of factors can go into a ratings decline. But Bernie Shimkus, Harmelin's vice president of research, said the decline coincided with the launch of Leno's show last fall. He said he was surprised that the declines were so uniform across the country.

"We all knew it was going to go down," Shimkus said. "But I don't think anyone forecast anything in the neighborhood of 40 to 50 percent."

Harmelin used data on the number of ads run in late local news programs and their cost to calculate that over a three-month period, the Leno experiment would cost these stations collectively $22 million. The 10 stations that NBC owns and operates would lose something like $570,000 per week, the report said.

The bolder parts reinforced why this is happening. Pressure from NBC affiliates that are losing money because Leno is killing their ratings, and thusly their advertising revenue.

COLE!? i fucking love him, i hated him at first, but the last couple episodes, hes really won me over. it's james franco's lil brother, have you seen the "acting with james franco" videos with them two?

I just despise frat boys in general, no matter if they are on TV or in real life. Plus people who just act and talk like morons piss me the hell off.

I mean, its personal choice, but I just can't stand the character

Time for the chin to be put to rest. I'm a huge Conan fan, and they're being incredibly unfair to him.

That being said, I realllyy hope Ricky Gervais can someday find a slot in late night hosting. He's such an easy conversationalist, and he's hysterical. Although, I don't know if NBC would sign him on after all his zings tonight

Woah, I didn't know that! Cole's definitely my new favorite character on there, minus Turk. It's the kind of annoying that really works!

My guess is conan will go to fox.
Leno will just be back on the tonight show.

Which is good because fox is a little more risqué than nbc. Conan late late was hilarious but when he moved to 11:30 it seemed to get toned down for longtime viewers regardless of the host.

Oh and what simpsons episode did conan write?

I don't think the "older" generation really appreciates his humor that much.

he wrote like 40, but i believe his most famous one is the "monorail" one. he wrote 4 either by himself, or co-wrote. and chipped in alot more.

I think he quit drinking.

Nothing good ever comes from quitting.

Did you also catch Beck on stage, as well?

I did. Thought that was a great way to end the show. Looking forward to seeing him somewhere in September.

I know Conan joked about running up NBC bills the last week, but when Tom Hanks comes on stage the band plays "Lovely Rita," a Beatles song (for Hanks' wife Rita). Supposedly it cost $500,000 to use the song. Don't know if this is true or not, but that is the way to steal office supplies.
