Few people in the league are better at hitting the short side on a play like the last goal. Hecht rarely misses that opportunity. Never flashy, always dependable.
Agree?

The guy is golden on those opportunities, and I love it too much to question it.

Hecht is quietly going on a tear. He's netted 7 goals in his past 11 games, and all the while has been creating some very good chances for his linemates, while playing very solidly in his own end. Don't know how he goes so unnoticed.

boy they hated him last year. personally, i have always liked hecht and have never said anything negative about his play (unless he was in a plain slump, which doesn't count). i have never called for him to be traded and have been a fan of his since the lockout.

Does it make up for the goal he gave up in the first minute of the game?

Last year I defended him by saying he was just having an off year, considering he has always been a solid, reliable player excluding last season. I knew he'd bounce back.

Hecht? Isn't he that new player we just brought in that scores, makes smart choices with the puck on the ice and plays well with Connolly and Pomminville?
Ya, he reminds me of this german player we had on the team on Briere was here, kinda nice to see that type of player again. ;)

I hated him after last season, but now I love him again. He's back to his old form.

It was frustrating for sure...I wonder if ETC has backed off his hate for him too

I am really loving Hecht this year.

He has frustrated me in years past with his lack of finesse and weak wristers that hit the goalie right between the numbers every time.

But this year he's trying to create some offense, and it's great. Even better, his defensive game is still spot-on.

I think he's playing with a chip on his shoulder after Uwe Krupp left him off the German Olympic roster.

I've been eating large amounts of crow over motherfucking Hecht in the preseason.

I'm glad to continue to do it as long as he's performing.

I was talking ten tons of shit about Hecht, too, and I am extremely happy to be feasting on carrion birds. He's playing like a pissed Kraut and I freakin LOVE IT (Thank you for snubbing Jochen, Uwe!)

The big difference is that he's not being forced to play center this season. With Connolly out and a lack of center depth Hecht had to play a position he isn't good at. I was afraid he'd have to play center again until Kennedy made the team. But with Kennedy and everybody staying pretty healthy, Hecht has stayed at LW where he's much better working the boards, with much less responsibility than in the middle.

He's still not worth a 3.5 mil cap hit, but he's a fine, responsible LW that is a good fit with other play makers on the same line.

Jochen gets rewarded for his recent performance. Uwe Krupp nominated him for the german olympic squad. He said that Hecht forced his nomination with his play.

So happy for Hecht that he gets to represent Germany in the Olympics. He's really earned it.

I'm guessing Krup had this in mind all along. Probably just a ploy to get Jochen going, and boy did it ever work.

Schubert wasn't so lucky, he played badly after he wasn't nominated...Calling out Krupp for not nominating him didn't help his cause either.
I'm glad Hecht showed the right reaction.
