In a case where like last night against the ducks, the starting goalie gets pulled, and the backup (or starter depending on who is playing that night) comes into the game and DOESNT allow any goals, Does the goalie that came into the game later get a shutout? or do the goalies from the other goalie count against him?

The reason why I ask is cuz Miller was close last night to shutting down the Ducks with the exception of one goal against him, so, if he hadnt let that one goal in, would he have gotten a shutout? or do the 4 goals against Lalime count towards Miller as well for coming into the game?

I don't think it would count as a shutout. There are lots of times where goalies are replaced and the second goaltender doesn't allow any goals, but I don't believe they are credited as getting a shutout.

see and there is where logic seems to fail... cuz you would think that they SHOULD get a shutout cuz they played and didnt allow any goals at all... it doesnt make very much sense in my opinion.

Speaking of that...thanks to Jochen's goal late in the third, Miller got charged with the loss. :(

Maybe goalie's only get credited with a shutout in games that they started. I don't know haha.

you have to play a full game. pitchers dont get credit for a win unless they pitch 5+ innings (starter) or credit for a save unless you collect 3 outs, or one inning of work. with goalies, you dont collect a shut out unless your shutout streak for one game begings at 20:00 of the first, and is intact at 00:00 of the third, or beyond, if the case may be....

Last night's game did affect his stats. He now has a 1.99 GAA, but still has a .936 SV% (But I'm not complaining)

I love that, now, it's been a total of two games that have destroyed Miller's stats, one of which he didn't even have anything to do with.

As Mike said; a single goalie must play the entire game to earn the shutout. I mean if he skates off on a delayed penalty, it's not going to negate his shutout. It would still count as a team shut out if two goalies allowed no goals, but not individually.

One goal in over two periods would help Millers GAA. Not sure how many shots he faced; but if was at least 11 or 12 it would help his save percentage.

Perhaps unfairly, he gave up what turned out to be the game winning goal, so he would get a loss. Had it ended 4 - 3, then Lalime gave up the winning goal, and would have taken the loss.

What is a Game winner anyways? What if we win 4-1 what goal determines who won the game?

Okay, so players A-D scored sequentially, player A with the first goal, B with the second, and so on and so forth. Regardless of when the 4 goals were scored, or when team 2 scored their goal, player B scored the game winner.

It's like that.
Score 4-1 means the player that scores goal #2 for the winning team gets the GWG
Score 3-2 means the player that scores goal #3 for the winning team gets the GWG
