OK, it may just be me but I don't feel like Gabriel's Gate is a fancy wine restaurant at all. It's kitschy and homey - it feels like a rural dude's man room to me. Beers and big hunks of meat by a fireplace with taxidermy animals and goofy Hawaiian tiki statues about the place.

Yeah...especially with all the mounted heads on the walls too. I love Gabriel's Gate...it's a nice and cozy place to eat especially in the Buffalo winter months.

I didn't mean to suggest it was an eclectic fru-fru cafe, either, but definitely a "date night restaurant" rather than a beer and wings joint.

Anyone been to Dandelions? It's over on Maple and North Forest. I used to get some damn good wings there back in the day.

I'll toss out some love for Bocce Club in Amherst too ;)

(although the real reason to eat there is the pie)

Well, I'm dating a girl who likes beer and wings, so it's win-win for me! ;)

Pizza Junction was on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. I've never been, but the stuffed peppers looked good.

I used to also love the wings over at Sorrentino's on Main and Evans.

I saw that episode and I told my wife I've never heard of the place

Their pies looked gimmicky though.

Before I bought my house, I lived in the apartments directly across the street from there.

The stuffed peppers are awesome, but they didn't start carrying that Roast Beef Pizza until after the episode aired. :p

Whoa; more information than we needed! :o Or is it...... ;)

But seriously, I always thought Bocce Pizza, along with LaNova, was the most over rated pizza in Buffalo. Laporta Pizza is just around the corner from Bocce; and I always liked that a lot more.

Bar Bill in East Aurora. Best wings ever, best beef on weck too. Very flavorful - but caution, also very got. They have mild/medium/medium hot/hot/extra hot/suicidal. Medium hot is hotter than hot at most places, including Duff's. Hot is very hot, extra hot is almost unbearable. I don't even want to know what suicidal is like.

Duffs is good, much better than the Anchor Bar, but my only complaint is they are swimming in sauce. They come in a bowl that ends up being about half full of sauce after you finish the wings.

Anchor Bar isn't very good at all - as mentioned above, they're not very crispy, and they charge extra for suicidal, which barely qualifies as hot.

i also know alot of people who think barbills' wings are the best....they are very very good....but they also have other flavors other than the hotsauce varieties which are very good too....barbecue, some kind of italian parmesan, honey wings too? you definitely would not be disappointed going here

Yep, I even worked the kitchen there one summer in high school.

I was going to mention them. Good atmosphere, and killer wings. It's Main and Mill though, ETC :snooty: ;)
