i liked the old old boards. the style that was up right after we got the slug. there was a navigation bar on the right at all times and stuff.

then we got the forums.sabres.com and it took some getting used to, but it was good. once the NHL did their thing, I tried logging in and hated the layout and everything so much i didn't post anymore. i popped in the other day and say a thread asking where everyone was, and good old bill schultz in typical format, said something like:

they have all
gone to other sites
because this one
has issues with
clarity and navigation.
most of them
are still active
on other boards.

we need to get gold old bill shultz over here

The FuseTalk ones (gray layout)? Those were awful - they were the ones that we had from black and red until shortly into blue and gold (although it had a changable background).

Seriously, something like 40 users at once could crash the thing.

Plus at one time there were no custom avatars - only a selection of pre-chosen cartoons. And they didn't allow for image embedding or anything.

Invision (forums.sabres.com) was the best - it was a good interface and worked well. But again, there were times in which the webmaster(s) didn't maintain it properly and features didn't work.

But remember the Private Topics in Fuse Talk? Stuff like the bored board club or whatever. Ah, good times.

PHPBB3 beats them all though.

I remember when I just lurked, and folks would reference the private topics all the time. I forgot all about them until now.

The Gutter. The good old days. I don't think there's anyone left here from it except, Howie, Yankee, SF4, and myself. We've lost Raddog, Gil, LetsGoBflo, Fitty, SG14221, FanMiro(?), GKW, & BillSchultz.

I have noticed several new members (here) recently. I wonder where they're coming from? Maybe they saw Yhoshi post the link over on the WPoD boards. I'm often tempted to put it on the Official fb site, but don't want an open invite to 60,000 people.

Even though he wasn't a member of The Gutter, I still think fondly of our little buddy The Bowler.
