Maybe Jochen will play better after being snubbed by own country. He has something to prove now. He hasn't been the same player since he signed his new contract. He was on the cusp of getting 20 goals for 3 or 4 years in a row, then finally hit 20, signed a new contract, and fell in line with the other guys with new contracts not living up to expectations (Connolly, Pommers, etc.)

Well, looks like being snubbed by Germany may ha lit a fire under Jochen.

Before Germany announced squad 39 games, 6 goals, 9 assist, -1
After Jochen was left off the team 9 games, 6 goals, 4 assists, +7

Hopefully Hecht continues to play like he has in the past, prior to signing his big contract.

On a side note, my uncle has been doggin Hecht all year. Last year too. For Christmas I bought him a autographed picture of Jochen, and ever since he's been producing. Last year I got him a Roy signed pic, basically the same results. Who should I get next. Maybe I won't wait til next Chistmas.

I doubt the Olympics had anything to do with Hecht's game, seeing as five other Germans (out of eight league wide) were named yesterday to the team.

He wasn't on the initial roster, but a reserve.

He was officially added on January 21.

Yea, after he went badass on the league during Connolly's streak, Krupp saw his bad and put him on the roster.

I have no idea about this, but its just an idea....I don't know if Hecht is from original west or east germany...but could it be a predjudice thing? I really don't know any particulars behind this, but just thought of it.
