I heard on XM that Montreal told Laraque this morning that his services were no longer required. They went on to talk about Laraque no longer wanting to fight all the time, and how he didn't fit in with the coaching staff in Montreal.

I wonder if they bought out his contract, or what his availability is? I have always been a pretty big Laraque fan, and if he would fight occasionally and give us another large presence in front of the net, I wouldn't mind having him if we could get him cheap - you know he would bring it when we played Montreal!!

He does skate ok, and has decent hands, just wondering what his status is at this point?

Not for me...the lineup is pretty full right now. His style is also not very good for the playoffs.

I look at players like Mac, and come playoff time with the clutching and grabbing, he will be worse than he is now. I'd also like to have him on our team when we play Philly so our captain doesn't have to fight Carcillo twice in a game. I don't think we will pick him up, but I would like to see him in a Sabres uni for the rest of this year - I just don't think this team has the stones to go far in the playoffs, but there are probably better options out there.

I think he adds a dimension to the game that we don't really *need*...we haven't been in any huge "fight" situations, and with the cohesion that's forming now, I don't know that we're going to have to worry. Pattymouth, Grier, Rivet and Mair will hold down the fort, when it's justified. We're better served with a PP than a fight (though, truth be told, right now a fight would be more entertaining than a PP opportunity).

Laraque is basically the same player as Peters. Not going to play that much, doesn't really have a skill other than racking up PIMs.

Not sure why you'd pick the guy up and pay him to play 4-6 shifts every other week.

Looks like Laraque isn't too pleased with the Habs deciding to part ways with him...

No way. He's like Mair, but he won't fight.

A lot of people are saying this has to do with a situation between him and Carey Price. Supposedly he punched price out.

Laraque is the man for that. I wonder what Price did to him?

You guys are clapping because an NHL enforcer punched out a 22(?) year old goalie. Do you guys have some sort of problem with Price? And I'd like to know the circumstances as well.

I was amused...it was a humorous round of applause, dude. And besides, I doubt Laraque did it for shits and giggles. If he did, bitch move. Still funny, but bitch move.

It's kind of snooty of Price to demand and require custom made jerseys, IMO.

Its hard to say anything about it as we know nothing about the situation but an NHL enforcer punching a young goalie is hardly humorous. At least in my eyes. But we all have our own opinions.

Really? You find a goalie asking for equipment his way snooty. Goalies are fucking weird. Give them whatever the fuck they "need" to stop the puck. If he wants a different cut to his jersey than so be it. Do you know how many NHLers have special requirements for some piece of their equipment? Close to all of them.

It's just kind of lame that they have to tailor his equipment so his fairy wings can fit through it.
