I would like you to do the following for the sake of the organization please.

Trade Deadline Moves:

Leave Buffalo
MacArthur, Lydman, Stafford, Paetsch, Mair, Mancari, Lalime
(any combination of these players with picks if you like)

To Buffalo
A true Power Forward RWer with a scoring touch (Horton, perhaps?)
Any draft picks or supplemental rental to help in the playoffs for the rest.

Called Up From Portland
Gerbe (LW replacement for MacArthur and saves on cap space)

Insert into the lineup
Sekera, in place of Lydman

Could you please work hard at this. Trade the UFA's at the deadline for something, even a low end Draft pick.

Agreed, he's to small and inexperienced in the league now to make an attempt at the NHL playoffs. Mac is just floating around the team, I wouldn't mind seeing him paired up with Staff for a trade to bring a good power forward to replace Staff on the first line.

I would be careful about letting any veteran defenseman go until after the season ends; unles we are getting the same in return.

I don't like Sekera's game; he has regressed the last two years.

Why is Mancari even being mentioned? He is a Portland player, and has no bearing on The Sabres.

If Stafford, and especially MacArthur can be parlayed into an upgrade up front, I'm with you on that. Ironically, I thought Macrthur busted his ass last night against The Kings. Mind you, he was probably well rested, as he hasn't done shit in quite some time.

I make no fundamental changes. The team chemistry is outstanding right now and I wouldn't want to fuck it up.

Don't move any D men unless it's for a clear upgrade, they haven't been bad this year and I don't want to see darcy eff up their chemistry. I don't understand why so many moves before the deadline though, we are in (commence beating dead horse) 1st place, right?

Lalime definitely {oh please, please get Marty Biron from NYI, they have a crowd now that DiPi's back}
Mac maybe {haven't we had enough undersized forwards on this team?}
Staff no {I'm willing to give him a shot the rest of this year; if he can't get it together he needs to go the way of Paille next year}
Mair no {he's looked better to me; maybe being placed on waivers woke him up}

No thanks -- as I said, we've had enough small "skill" skaters up front

I agree with Howie and Van; let's not move a vet Dman unless absolutely necessary, and Sekera may snap out of it {plus, he can always be used up front.}

And, if any vet Dman needs to take a seat, it's Rivet . . .

.

yes. i see a goalie standing on his fucking head game after game, while an average team plays hockey on some nights, and takes other nights off.

dont be a baby because i dont agree with your assessment that this team isnt exactly where id like to see it, and in my mind, a change or two have to be made if they want to win a cup.

Adam, he's right in a lot of ways. Up until recently, the Sabres were a team with an absolutely amazing goaltender, a bottom six that had to outperform a top six, and a rookie and scapegoat having to outperform the other two pairs.

I use up until recently because Montador has become much more solid, the Red Hot Chili Peppers line is fucking white hot, and they're winning games or making it to OT on the offense and not just Miller.

They opened the season with some of the highest shots for and lowest shots against totals in the NHL.

They hit a spell in november (If you can call a 7-5-1 month a spell), and adjusted accordingly.

Lets look at this statistically, Phil.

They've lost back to back games for the first time in over a month.

That doesn't happen without having a good team in front of your goaltender, no matter how you break it down.

The power play is improving, to the point that it's been impressive over the last 10 games.

The penalty kill and their ability to step into shooting lanes and block shots is nearly unmatched in the NHL.

As far as a rookie phenom goes... so what if we rely on him?

Haven't former Stanley Cup winners had stud defensemen that played massive minutes? Look at Anaheim... they had Scott Neidermyer. Look at Detroit with Lidstrom. Look at New Jersey with Stevens. All of these guys played huge minutes in the playoffs to compensate for weaker pairings deeper in the lineup.

This team is damn good outside of Miller, and I'm sick of people saying otherwise.

the team is fine, but its ludicrous to suggest the team couldnt use trades to improve the team to gear up for a long playoff run.

its a message board, dude. people are allowed to disagree with you. plenty of people agree with me, plenty agree with you. but if you wanna block me because we disagree, well, thats pretty sad. and it sorta goes against the fundamental principal of the board.

its basically taking your ball and going home.

Well, I'm not gonna argue that they're damn good (which they are), but it took some time for the offense to work on a consistent basis. Now, well now they're scoring what feels like a whole goal more per game than to start the season.

That was my only real gripe, and it's been addressed (I think Connolly may have sold his soul to the devil).

For a while, though, they just weren't all there on all levels (in terms of defensive play, they sure were, not just offensively).
