I would consider it a good road trip if the Sabres earn...
5 of possible 14 points 0%  0%  [ 0 ]
6 of possible 14 points 3%  3%  [ 2 ]
7 of possible 14 points 5%  5%  [ 3 ]
8 of possible 14 points 7%  7%  [ 4 ]
9 of possible 14 points 29%  29%  [ 17 ]
10 of possible 14 points 37%  37%  [ 22 ]
11 of possible 14 points 3%  3%  [ 2 ]
12 of possible 14 points 3%  3%  [ 2 ]
It ain't a success unless they win every game 12%  12%  [ 7 ]

Well, we've got two wins, a SO loss, and a reg loss - two more wins and another SO or OT loss, and I'll be right! :D

Damn, when I said I would be happy with 7 out of a possible 14 points I didn't really mean it. I was setting myself up to be pleased when we came home with 10 or more.

Still, I guess it could be worse.

I'm fine with it. It's not like we're playing poorly, and it's not like shootout performance has any bearing on anything, it's just obnoxious to not get that extra point.

Yotes had been playing better when I first posted this.
Still on track for 9 of 14, but 10 are still possible.

I just want this WC trip to end. I hate no RJ, the late games, and no HD.

I concur, but they have to do one thing before they come back and that's prove they are good enough to hang with San Jose in thier building, it's gonna be a very tense and crazed atmosphere. Win or lose as long as they put in a good effort and keep it close I think it's a huge plus. We need to come out of the gate like a thoroughbred horse at the Derby by putting them in the hole early and keeping them on their heels all game with tough physical forchecking.

I think we can hang with San Jose just fine.

Basically you shut down one line and you're golden, it's the same as trying to shut down Ovechkin.

Well, this started out promising. Now, with one game left, we are hoping to come home with eight points out of fourteen, to face the NJ Devils (1/27) and a resurgent Sens team (2/3).

I hope Lindy can work some of his magic to get the team back on track.

Let's be honest this road trip was not great could have been worse but still not at all what we hoped for. But on the bright side glass half full outlook not "blind optimism" the offense showed great signs of progress. Even though the defense has leaked out some weaknesses I still think it's not all that bad who better to fix the problem than Lindy Ruff or maybe Darcy needs to make a change either way I feel like it's no time to panic. We still have a 7 point lead on Ottawa and a 3 games in hand. Lindy will right the ship this team is good and I truly believe they think that also. Still one game left let's hope for the best.

Yeah, it wasn't great, but it wasn't a total collapse. If we beat the Canucks I think we salvage it.

I am still laughing periodically at a comment someone left on some fan page update on Facebook. I think it was Kaleta's. "This is the beginning of the Sabres' skid to miss the playoffs." Something like that.

I think people forget how far into the season we are.

I agree Timbo,

These boys are flat out tired. You can see it in them. They're trying out there, but the fatigue of 7 games in 14 nights on different sleep schedules/time zones is a major factor. I agree though, that the scoring has been finding it's legs, and if we can maintain this heading back home where we'll be playing against other divisional teams, we should look good heading into the break. I hope the guys who need the rest take good advantage of the time off.

Out of our boys heading to the Olympics, the only one I'm concerned with in terms of becoming burnt out come playoff time is of course, Miller. I hope he's played only as needed and not over worked. Yes, I know folks cheering the US will want him in nets, but for those who are also Sabres fans, we need him fresh, alert and on his game for the stretch run.

My take on the last 2 weeks, we're roughly 50% for this trip. If we win tomorrow in Vancouver, it will give them a boost heading home and boost thier confidence.

Alex said it best in the GDT last night (I'm paraphrasing):

Win against Trashers
Unsettling loss to Islanders (played three bad periods)
Blowout win against 'Yotes
Thrilling comeback fell short against Ducks (they never quit)
Strong back-and-forth game against Kings
Nabokov stole win for Sharks (Sabres really controlled that game)

The only unhappy game throughout this whole trip so far is horrible showing against the Isles.

the sabres might have controlled the game the first 40 but in the last 20 it seemed that the sharks were in control.

From here on out we play 14 playoff teams and 18 non playoff teams.

Of those playoff teams 1 is the Sharks, 1 is the Capitals, 2 are the penguins, and 2 are the devils. The other eight are seeded 6th or worse.

We made it through the difficult part of our schedule already basically. Now we get to beat the shit out of the likes of Carolina, TB, Florida, Toronto and Boston

Overall, I've been pleased with their play throughout this trip. Most trips like this, you're happy to come back .500.

Obviously you'd like more points than that, but as long as they keep playing the way they're playing, they'll be ok.
