Hockey talk in a second (Ryan Miller is starting tonight) but the big news is that Rick Jeanneret remains on vacation. His place behind the mike will be taken tonight by Steve Kouleas of the SCORE Network in Toronto, a long-time AHL play-by-play man who will be covering the Olympics in Vancouver.

It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

Well I sure know Steve as I watch the score everyday here in Toronto. From what I've seen of him I don't know if he'll be good or bad since I've really only heard him call highlights of games and never actual play by play. I think he can get pretty into it and he knows his stuff I believe. Hopefully it's just one game because I want RJ back :(

Per Sabres Alumni, RJ would have retired after last season, had The Sabres not missed the playoffs. He didn't want to leave under those circumstances. He may just be a bit tired right now. He knew the schedule well ahead of time, and he's too much of a pro to just say "screw it, I'm extending my vacation trip at the expense of work."

Hope he's back soon, because I'd be very surprised to see him stay on beyond this season.

Not cool. But I won't pass judgment on this guy before I hear him.

How funny would it be to see a clip of RJ in the broadcast booth with his laptop open to Sabresjunkie, bitching about how shitty the teams doing in the GDT.

Yeah, that's why I think it's Stanley Cup or bust this year.

We should reneg his deal so he only has to do home games and toronto games or something.

44 games a year with no travel is a bit easier than 75+

Anyone think that his flight might have gotten canceled or something?
