i LOVE animals. i plan on adopting a dog soon. animals are my soft spot. that being said, peta needs to stfu. they also are asking the university of georgia to use a mechanical bulldog instead of their normal bulldog as a mascot. how much you wanna bet UGA (thats the name of the dog) has a better life then most of US?

Their strategy is so fucked, instead of focusing on meaningful projects which actually resonate with a bigger percentage of the population (animal testing, large scale industrial beef, etc) they choose to focus on the most redonkulously meaningless crap. Mascots? Really? THATS a high priority when it comes to "ethical treatment of animals?"

They just want attention, they don't care about animals.

theres a video online of this kid skateboarding and, obviously, someone filming him. he doesnt make a trick and his board lands near a dog watching him. the kid picks up the board, then proceeds to take a baseball swing and smashes the dog in the face, killing it.

We have 3 dogs, and I love them with all my heart. If this kid did this to MY dog, I can't even fathom what would transpire. You may as well hit my kid in the head with a bat. If I happened to see it driving by, I still assume the violence would be pretty much off the charts. I sit here now literally trembling thinking about how scary my involuntary actions would be.

As for PETA, I will disclaim myself, but my g/f watches their tweets, and I've seen a documentary. While they are against animal cruelty, their goal isn't to stop it, but to end human interference in the lives of animals. That's why they don't spend money/effort on individual cases of cruelty. They go after corporations first, because that is closer to achieving their goal.

well, the video was only half seen by me a few years ago. dont ask me to post it, i wont. its pretty... awful.

few years ago when i was at WMU, we had an early spring, so all the geese flew north early. we had a freak snowfall, so some of the geese along the main drag were confused, crossing the road, dodging cars. finally, some asshole in a jeep sped up to hit the geese, hitting one, while the gooses companion, or mate, barely got out of the way. i stopped, and went out to assist the hopefully only wounded goose, but it was dying fast. the mate stood over the hit goose and just honked at it. i picked it up, and took it to my car, where i planned to take it to a vet, but it had died. meanwhile, the other goose is chasing me, thinking im going to hurt the other goose. so, there was nothing i could do, so i moved the goose off to the side and kinda sat there, not really sure what else i could do. that was really hard on me. that shook me to the fuckin core.

PETA are a bunch of attention whores. Sure, it's great to bring awareness to animal cruelty and let people know that if you see shit like this go on then you should do something about it. This idea I 100% support. But for fuck sakes leave the god damn groundhog in his fucking hole! I bet a lot of the people who are the main voices of PETA are the same ones sitting down at night, eating cow/chicken/pork etc. and saying, "GOD DAMN! That fucking chunk of steak was so awesome, I have a hard on just thinking about how good it tasted!"

Someone needs to kick the soap box out from underneath them and fast.

Oh wow Irony. Assholes are just that too. I would have been upset about it, I don't ever want to hit any animal in my car/truck/suv or anything that I drive. Nor would I speed up to hit one either.
