That is really cool. It reminds me of when the corn and potato fields down below my house would flood at just the right time of year, and suddenly we'd have this whole huge area to skate over. When the creek down there flooded during the spring, we'd be Tom Sawyer, but I preferred when it did so in late fall/early winter and froze over.

The only picture I sort of have of it uploaded is this one:
Image
Just ignore the foreground. There are better pictures because at ten years old when I knew we would move I had the foresight to take pictures of everything right away so that I'd always have that in case my memory started to go (so far I can still close my eyes and see absolutely everything as I imagine walking around lol), but definitely none online.

We'd also take buckets of water and ice the hill down to the fields every winter. The sledding was amazing.

Yea, it's only suppose to get to like 36 as a high tomorrow, but when I wake up, I'm gonna go skate on it again. I mean how often will I get the chance to skate outside in NC with natural weather conditions?

And tomorrow I can actually have someone else take pictures if I choose to have some more of them.

I think I'm gonna try to stay up all night, and all day tomorrow, and see if I can't get my sleep schedule reset...caffeinated beverages will be my ally.

I'm going to the pro-bowl today, but my mind is fixated on Ottawa.

This matches my high school experience perfectly:
Quote:
-you can recite the pledge to the Christian flag & the Bible without hesitation

-you envy all Catholic school girl uniforms

-you roll your skirt when you can, and avoid wearing it in public

-you usually only shave your knees cuz your shirt is long enough & your knee highs clearly cover your legs

-you break dress code as often as you can, & when you get caught you just "fix it" and then do it again the next day

-your uniform shorts for sports teams are longer than the guys shorts

-basketball is the primary sport

-homecoming is not a dance, it's a dinner.. so is junior senior.

-AACS actually means something to you

-you're forced to participate in AACS competition if you have any talent whatsoever, & if not, at least they filled the category.

-you feel guilty about reading any other version of the Bible except the KJV

-Greek is like a 2nd language to you.

-you join the cheerleading squad just to do steps

-you start to carry your Bible in your purse, because you're afraid that you'll forget it for chapel

-you have a myspace, just because.

-you have a private myspace, because your principal will look at it & expel you for that one curse word, you just HAD to add.

-all your weekends are somehow booked up with sports tournaments & church events

-everyone has "dated" everyone but no one is allowed to "date"

-you can name every kid in the entire high school

-you boyfriend "shop" at other schools because you grew up with all the guys in your school & they're like brothers

-the 6 inch rule... do i need to go into detail?

-detention consists of the "circle of boredom" or cleaning out the bus

-you immediately turn down the music as you pull into the school parking lot

-your teachers gossip just as much as you do

-everyone freaks out about the latest drama, especially who's dating who!?

-if you are dating someone outside of the school they are automatically bad for you, & everyone is always "praying" for you & giving chapel messages about how dating in high school is stupid

-you get offended if people ask if you go to a Catholic school

-every time you are in a situation where a skirt is a must, you feel like you are going back to time, falling back into bondage

-After graduating, you didn't wear a skirt or stockings for close to a year

-The 1st time you went to a real dance you felt so free from bondage

-'going out' w/ someone merely meant that you sat next to them in class, in chapel, lunch, and wrote notes to each other.

-Any college outside of BJU & PCC are of the devil

-You've had cemented in your head for years that secular music is of the devil

:?

Just the shaving thing is a little off, and I corrected some other things. Most girls didn't shave at all over the winter because nylons were required.

Since you are attending the probowl what is your feeling about it being before the superbowl and not after?

It should be afterwords, because those who are selected to play in the ProBowl but are also playing the Superbowl might not go just because of injury risk and such.

It should be after the Superbowl then it would just make everything smoother for those players appearing in the Superbowl.

i agree with that. Stupid goodell is saying any publicity is good publicity is he working with the bills or something. i just figured i'd ask ETC as they switched the game to Miami and probably wouldn't have if the games was after the superbowl. so being able to go might be a factor. plus going to this game will also give a different prospective. Heck with the injuries in football the probowl is beginning to seem like a joke especially because it does not really give the players a chance to show off skills, unlike the NBA game, or MLB, or even the NHL.

it is very difficult thinking you know how to solve a problem; ie the bills, and not be able to do a damn thing.

Michael Jackson raised some great children (the two oldest accepted his award at the Grammys and gave speeches, so this isn't as random as it seems).

Some of those performances were a hot mess... OK, all of them were, but Slash redeemed one of them. I don't even know who was performing. :?

Yeeeaaaaah.

Those places kill your soul. They really do.

Everything you do becomes fueled by bitterness. The things you do aren't that bad, but they're fueled by the worst kind of anger. I saw perfectly good kids lose all sense of rationality and completely lash out.

I basically vehemently despise my high school. It started out well, but the last two years I was there sucked big time. They weren't bad at all at the beginning, but once they essentially revamped the faculty, WATCH OUT. Half of my class left, too. :(

My predictions concerning the school's demise are playing out perfectly, too. It's sad that an at-the-time fifteen-year-old kid had more foresight and better business sense than the people who ruined the school.

It was a pretty impressive spectacle. I think it's cool when done this way because it gives fans a chance to see many of the Superbowl trappings without having to lay out Superbowl money. It was a very robust crowd, fighter jets flying overhead after the National Anthem, and a very festive atmosphere.

The game itself is pretty worthless, so this format gives it a much-needed kick of fun and excitement it never otherwise provides.

My mom went to a Catholic elementary and middle school, and when it was time for her to choose to go to a Catholic high school or a public one, she chose public. She despised the Catholic schools, and she promised to never send her children there. I guess those nasty nuns are part of the reason why I wasn't brought up in a religious household.

Good choice. :D

I think that when I have kids, I'm going to homeschool them until they hit middle school and then let them decide if they want to try other things.

All things considered, though, I am kind of glad I went to high school as opposed to remaining homeschooled throughout. Being in high school enabled me to make at least acquaintances, whereas before, I cut myself off from everything but a youth group I was in at the time, and they all just thought I was weird and would never talk to me even if I tried talking to them. It was good to get that fresh start and overcome a lot of things I was dealing with at the time. Being forced to spend five days a week with peers and not having much control over my social situation really helped quite a bit with that, in retrospect, though I disliked it at the time. It also helped me learn to hide a lot of myself from other people and be manipulative in that way so I could get people to like me. You've got to earn the right to be yourself.

By the end, though... Oh dear.

Yeah...I understand what you mean. High school was fun and all, but let's just say I am so grateful that I never ever have to relive that time in my life again.

they could make the game decide who gets home field advantage or in this case be considered the home team, in the superbowl much like the all-star game in baseball does for the world series.

But in the Superbowl they decide based on regular season records, which is fair since the Colts are 16-2 and the Saints are 15-3.
