You are right but they have to maxed out to the cap and they are in last in the east.

With money not being an issue can Brian Burke be moving out cap to potentially sign Ilya Kovalchuk?

No. Dion has 4 years left at $6.5m and Giggy has 1 more at $6m.

LOL!!! Brian Burke is a genius alright...lets see here, trade away;

Hagman- 40-45 points per year
Stajan-50-60 points per year, just entering his prime
White- Brilliant Offensive defensive man, just entering his prime
Mayers- A gritty veteran forward, on a team full of young players

and adds

Some AHL scrub, A defensive man who has an apparent attitude and work ethic problem, and a Swedish forward that can't score worth a lick

He traded 1 good defensemen, and 2 2nd to 3rd liners for a young super capable defensman with offensive capabilities that exceed that of the two forwards he traded a way.

If none of you can remember, Keith Aulie was Myers's defensive partner on team Canada.

Is it just me, or does Dion Phaneuf just scream "douche bag" whenever you see him? His fashion sense is that of a Jersey Shore guido who's trying to be "classy".

Well, this sucks.
This means Phaneuf is in the NorthEast Div. not good for us. :(

wow....

short term, maybe toronto gave up alot, but those players were not long term answers. and this year is a wash for them anyways. but they added pieces of the puzzle for the future. anyone who thinks that toronto or burke made a bad deal is wrong. i always thought highly of burkes aggressive rebuilding, and this just increases that. this is bad news for the sabres and the rest of the division.

Toronto definitely wins the day, but they're still a long way from being worth a shit.

maybe not that far. they have kandri waiting in the wings, kessel up front who is a 30+ goal scorer if healthy, gustavsson, who i think is going to be an absolute fantastic goalie, giggy, who won a stanley cup and a conn smyth, so he brings it in the playoffs, and now neon dion. lots of spaces to be filled, but the tough ones to fill are already filled or being filled.

I have a real bad feeling that Burke isn't done today and is going to make a deal that brings a BIG name forward to Toronto

I think bringing in Dion allows the Leafs to now trade Kaberle. Everywhere I've looked, they have been getting good offers for him. Don't think Burke is ever done dealing.

Manning the machine gun on the Tyler Myers Bandwagon - just in case any teams have an idea of prying him away from us (3 GM's shot already)

Connolly/Roy - 2 goals in the last 47 playoff games

He stated in the press conference he WILL NOT ask Kaberle to waive his trade clause so Kaberle will only be traded if he is willing himself to waive the clause.

We'll gladly take Kaberle now that Toronto has to shed some salary on the defensive end

Not really Giggy is making 6mil  :? Anheim got rid of salary

Anaheim dumped a big, ugly contract. Toskala is at $4 million, but is in the last year of his contract isn't he?

Who do you give up? Don't want it coming back and biting us in the ass. Although I doubt burke would trade within the division especially Kaberle

Stajan, Hagman, and Blake leave. I'd assume Burke's day is not over then, he needs someone to play forward.

Does this finally make Wayne Primeau a 1'st line player??
