Mike Murphy suspends the Caps mike Green for three games. The elbow definitely looks pretty blatant.

I say 5 games after he gets healthy.

Hes not a repeat offender and well the opposition player wasn't injured. Green was stupid to lead with the elbow, but if he does it again you give him 10 games or more.

Get rid of the instigator and he'd never lead with his elbow, cause no suspension hurst more than a good old fashioned beat down.

Three games is not enough. This is EXACTLY what the NHL needs to eliminate, and the statement should have been bigger. No less than five games is appropriate, and I'd have given him eight.

What a douche move. And nothing happened to him. That's probably my biggest problem with the sport right now. It's really freaking ticking me off.

I do agree with the suspension and believe it was a dirty hit however later in the same game he got hit by a panther player knee on knee. I'm not sure if the panthers knee was extended, nothing was made out of it by the NHL

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iee6mN73aD4

Seems like the panther had his leg extended a bit, some could call it pay back on Green but still a dirty move

Just another dirty play that will be relatively ignored by the NHL. I'm tired of talking about this crap. It's just a matter of time before a player gets paralyzed or killed. Then it will be the typical reactionary response when it was obvious that something needed to be done proactively years before. Some people are just plain fucking stupid or ignorant, and others will have to pay the price.

No, that's his fault for venturing to any other team forum.

Do we think Kaleta hits are dirty? Half the time nope, but most are, and when other people say they are, we get all offensive about it too.

It's just because he is on our team we are blinded by it.

Maybe 20% of Kaleta's hits are borderline, and his only dirty hit was on Ross, which was kind of Ross's fault for turning head first into the boards.

I don't agree.

When our players do something dirty, a good portion of board members seem to call that out. There's always a little element of homerism, but for the most part I think our folks are pretty fair.

I can't say the same for some other team's fans.

Actually, no. I try to remain objective in most situations. I saw the Green hit and called it dirty from the get go. I'll continue to do so, because it was. I'll also call a Kaleta hit dirty if I happen to think it is.
I saw their reaction as lack of knowledge from being band wagoners more than anything, and found it rather comical.

Living here in the DC area for the past 10 years, I will be the first to say that about 10% of the sports fans here follow hockey. When I first got here, most people I worked with knew nothing about hockey except that it's played on ice and they allow fighting. Majority of the so called "Caps fans" are fans only because of Ovie. Rob is 100% correct, a large portion of their fans are bandwagoners.
