Adam I don't agree with moving the Canes to Charlotte, Raleigh is in a more central location than Charlotte and draws in people just as much.

You take the 866,410 in Wake county where Raleigh is at, the 262,715 in Durham County, the 163,428 people of Johnston County and you have well over 1 million people who can support the team. Population isn't everything, look at the Devils and how they don't always sell out very game even though there is 18 million people surrounding that area.

Charlotte would be a bad place to situate the team, Raleigh was chosen for a better location in the state for more fans to support it.

By your logic, Raleigh wouldn't be an ideal place just based on population, either. But that is the argument you make.

I was saying the population is high enough in the Raleigh area to support the team easily, but Buffalo supports a team with way less people then the Raleigh area and 50 mile surroundings have.

Raleigh is a better location for the team than Charlotte is what I'm saying. Charlotte has two pro teams, keep one in Raleigh.

The league should be actively pursuing someone like Paul Allen from Portland. The man owns the Trail Blazers, the Seahawks, and the MLS Sounders. At a net worth of about $10 billion, why not a Seattle or Portland NHL team?

The league needs to set higher sights than the Boots Del Baggios, and the Len Barrie's of the world....

Ah yes; The Charlotte Checkers of the old SHL. Buffalo's secondary minor league affiliate in the seventies. Bob Sauve spent a season there.....

are we talking portland oregon or portland maine.
As well seattle might work. I know a family from idaho, who are pretty hockey nuts. as well maybe alaska.
cause if it is portland maine that would be a heck of a travel to have to face opponents in say san jose's division or edmonton's division. they'd almost fit in with the atlantic or north east division. of course if it is portland oregon then that fits. Though i think if your heading out that way seattle would be a better choice as it is a bigger city.

Totally, he's so annoying. "What J Mascis is to Dinosaur Jr., David Booth is to the Florida Panthers". Plus his Mailbag on ESPN is stupid as shit.

Yeah, he's probably the most hated douche in all of hockey broadcasting. Almost no hockey knowledge, gets openly mocked by Melrose for being a phony... just a total douche-douche boy with zero on the credibility meter.

Melrose is one to talk........

His claims to fame are riding Gretzky's coattails and a mullet.
