SO I was going through some of the sabres statistics, and I discovered some encouraging, and some disturbing trends.

Now, when the sabres win, they average 3.56 goals per game scored, and 1.59 goals per game allowed. Now those are very good, and I think we can all be happy with those numbers.

but...

When the sabres lose, they score only 1.67 goals per game, and allow 3.62 goals per game. Now obviously those numbers are disquieting and seem to show that this team is not yet ready to make a deep playoff run. I think if they could improve upon these numbers, they could have a decent shot at a stanley cup, but until then, I think we'll be crying again come playoff time.

Now I know some people aren't going to like what I have to say, but these are the numbers and the numbers do not lie.

i think a move or two is needed. badly. i think this game is a perfect example of where a few upgrades are needed.

Cindy Crosby absolutely took this game away from us. And we have NOTHING but a group of overpaid 2nd and 3rd liners. It's pathetic.

I'm not really angry about losing this game against Sid the Kid. He is an elite player and like all elite players he has an impact on the game. In my opinion, we need 1 RWer and 1 LWer.
Lines as follows:

Vanek-Roy- ?
? - Connolly-Pomminville

I think a big, fast RWer with hands of gold would be my first target, or as close as we can get to that to give Roy and Vanek someone to set them up or set him up.
Who do we bring in and who are we shipping out to bring them in?

I say, Luke Adam as our LW on second line when he is fully ready, and Ennis on RW even though he plays Center with Roy and Vanek.

The Hecht, Connolly, Pominville line is doing great this year, great forechecking, no need to break them up.

But get another big guy to go with Roy and Vanek to put up points, or at least another shifty goal scorer.

I'm looking in about a year or two, or Even Kennedy with R and V.

Cranberries go well with turkey dinner.

Just thought I'd add something meaningless to the discussion.

This thread made sense to me until I read your post Mr. Pants. Now I don't understand the point of it.

Good teams lose by outscoring their opponents...

Besides the obvious of "we score less when we lose"...can you draw some correlation between the data and your hypothetical outcome of "This team is not ready to make a deep playoff run"? you say it is obvious, but i'm not really seeing the connection. We do win a lot more games than we lose, does that not indicate that we WILL go deep in the playoffs? Can you expand on your original thought?
