Certainly, when I look for inside DoD info I turn to the Guardian.

Let's see here...a couple pf initial problems
First, I see two people principally cited....
Christine Parthemore, an analyst at the Centre for a New American Security, A DC think tank of about 30 people several of whom work for the Obama Administration.

Dorothy Robyn, deputy undersecretary of defense for the environment. Who, by job title alone thinks about global warming and oil spills all day long.

Second problem.
The DoD has contingency plans for a full scale alien invasion...that doesn't prove the existence of aliens now does it?

I would hope that if there's going to be an article about climate change , they would interview people knowledgeable about, I dunno, climate change.

Complaining about that is like complaining that someone interviewed an oncologist in an article about lung cancers. Makes no sense.

But that report from 2004 was actually commissioned by a think tank and not the Pentagon itself and the findings were never forwarded to Sec. Def. Rumsfeld.

as a matter of fact, when I do a google search for "pentagon global warming" the only real results I get are the guardian or liberal blogs citing the guardian.

So, let me get this straight.

The Pentagon is considering the effects that a changing climate could have on future battlefields and American security. They aren't commenting on the source of climate change, or even saying with 100% certainty that it's even happening, they're just putting together some 'what if's' on the topic.

Seems pretty reasonable to me. What's the indignation all about?

Although I hate to involve the thousands of other Pentagon employees...you know...ones that aren't civilian appointees.
Maybe we could edit it to something like:
