they could haven signed seidenberg this summer but choose not to. Darcy and Larry adon't have the balls to admit they where wrong but i don't think they would trade for a him.

He's not the point producing on the blue line we would need anyways.

If we needed a good offensive guy he needs to at leas get 50 points a year.

The point is Phaneuf has produced offensively in the past. The question is whether he'll become that player again now he's out of Calgary.

Based on his stats this year, he is not a great point producer. Off year, or has he lost a lot of his drive? We shall see.

especially with darcy's love of prospects. i know gonchar is a lot of money this off season but he is an offensive defenseman. though i could see him taking a salary hit to stay with the pens. but if the pens resign letang to what he probably thinks he is worth, gonchar might be available. him and volchenkov in the offseason plus biron i could live with those changes to the defense and goalie back up position. still doesn't solve the secondary offensive force.

psych and sky,

Last season Buffalo didn't have room on the blueline or with the cap to sign more than one fairly cheap player on defense. They wanted grit and signed an affordable player in Montador. This summer Buffalo will shed almost 6.3 mil on defense when Tallinder, Lydman, and Paetsch walk. There's no denying they could use a PP QB, but since when does Darcy trade for a big name, big salary (ie cap hit) type of player? He won't deal for a d-man than always puts up 50+ pts because that's going to cost at least 4 mil per.

Seidenberg was not an option cap wise last summer. He will be this summer. Last summer a PP QB was not a priority (partly due to cap reasons), but now it should be. Seidenberg and Kurt Foster would be upgrades that are within Darcy's price range, and they are still young enough to stay in their prime for 4-5 seasons. Both will be UFAs but if MacArthur isn't in the long term plans (he shouldn't be IMO) then he should be used to grab one of these players now. With some success down the stretch and in the playoffs, that could be extra bait to make the new player willing to sign long term in the summer (at a little over the cost of Tallinder).

Unfortunately both Florida and TB are in the playoff hunt for now. Neither player may be available until the summer. Darcy will have to pick up someone though because I highly doubt that any of our UFAs get re-signed. With a log jam on defense this season, they can afford to lose three, bring up Weber and just sign one new veteran. It really should be a puck moving PP specialist, because Myers can't to it all by himself once he learns and excels at that part of the game, and Sekera certainly hasn't proven himself yet. After that there is nobody in the system near capable of being a PP QB.

We don't nee a PP QB anymore, Myers is our man, and We need to keep Sekera for the same reason.

Sekera isn't playing badly when he plays, and Weber needs another shot on the Sabres team. him and Sekera were a great pair two years ago.

We need more focus on our offensive side as to signing a good RW for Vanek to play with.

Loods, Hank, and Patches will all leave. But we only need one D-man, because Weber will be ready to start full time.

I can't see the Sens shipping him to the team that they are trying to catch for the Division title.

I have seen a few posts offering Buffalo's 2nd round pick. Seeing San Jose just traded our 2nd rounder, I wonder if people forgot we don't have it, or were talking about future drafts?
