March 26th 2010, Friday. The next time we play Ottawa and once again at home. Mark it on your calendars bring all this hatred back on that night as for now let us drink away our sorrows

hmm I'm going to the 27th game vs the Bolts...Maybe I'll go a day early.

I may have to venture to this game myself. You think security will be ok with fans bringing pitchforks to the game incase ruutu, neil, alfie or spezza piss us off :D

For Ottawa? I think they would turn their heads.

This is a stupid thread.

The fact that so many of you seem to think we can just go out and run the Sens and take penalties is ridiculous.

The Sabres were plenty physical. Even Vanek punched Ruutu in the face. Everybody threw hits.

They'll work it out.

this, while I would've loved to see blood and I loved how Myers stood up for Miller, but they had already taken quite a bit of penalties earlier on the game, and being down by one they didn't want to put themselves on heavy PK time.

The Sabres played one of the better 1st periods I've seen them play all year. Second period they kind of laid back a little and when the fans thought the game was over at 2-0, the Sabres got themselves back in it.

I think what gets most people is the way we lost it, rather than just the fact that we lost it. The fact that we had come back from 2-0 and tied it, only to lose it in the final minute was heart breaking. I do however think the Sabres are very angry with themselves and I'm interested to see how they respond not only in their next game on Friday, but in their next game vs Ottawa.

Buffalo outplayed Ottawa for almost the entire 1st and 2nd period. The difference was Buffalo not being able to cash in on scoring chances, and Ottawa capitalizing on the few they had. This simply comes down to what we already know about the team - they need a legit scoring forward...a money man that can put the puck away when he has a scoring chance, and a better PP.

As for the physicality, When Miller got hit there was Phillips, another Senator, two refs, and Myers all against the boards. Myers got some shots in but there wasn't any room for someone else unless they wanted to jump over a ref and earn a sure penalty. That would eliminate a PP when they really needed it while down a goal. Myers did enough unless people want to see a line brawl. Vanek got his punch in for the Ruutu hit, and the refs let it slide so that evened out ok. Going berserk, having a meltdown, and just ensuring the loss wouldn't prove a damn thing.

Again, this game only showed what we already knew. Buffalo can control play through most of a lot of games, but without a money scoring forward or a good PP (with a legit PP QB d-man) that effort and those scoring chances don't mean squat when you can't put pucks in the net. Tonight was hardly the first time we've seen this. They've still managed to play a disciplined game that has them in a good position, but clearly they need a little more if they want to be a favorite in the playoffs.

I also want to second or third the complaint about the Kennedy line being out against their top line in the final minute. That was just plain asking for it.

It was moreso Sekera and Lydman out during the final minute?

It should have been Tallinder and Myers in the final minute while tied. Why anyone else I do not know.

Like SF1980 said, we need that guy who opposing goalies fear when the puck is on his stick... you know, that guy that's a lock for breakaways and the shootout. The issue is how we get him.

And there in lay the truly sad state of affairs. Why on earth would an organization close themselves off to a potential talent pool is beyond me. Baffling is the word I use to describe the situation, just baffling.

Its not JUST Buffalo though...you have to be careful with the whole KHL thing.

So get rid of any hope in the future for a playoff performance. This team needs a few more players to be perfect, but this team can be a dangerous playoff force, and we have our core locked up, we add a few more pieces and should be fine. Get another decent scorer, no need for a superstar.

I would hope we don't make a run for Kovie, unless it means he stays with the Sabres and we don't have to give up too much, but that is not the truth and it's not going to happen.

Sekera and Butler actually. The worst d-men on the team, with the worst line on the team. It should have been Goose's line with Myers and Tallinder if we were going for defense. What pisses me off is that Sekera said, "They just made a nice play." That's why he will never become a legit Defenseman. Fucking asshole. Butler and Sekera need to disappear.
