No, and I completely agree. My posts weren't that we should have landed him, my posts were to the point as to why we didn't even try. And that list above, I am sure it could have been negotiated to look different, but we'll never know.

Thats why jvaccaro6, I am on to the Sharp to Buffalo thread :D

I'd much rather have Ponakarovski, but a few years ago, when Sharp was being traded from Philly, I suggested we trade Kotalik, and a 3rd for him, and was told how much of a stupid idiot I am, lol.

Kotalik and a 3rd would have probably landed him too.

I would love to have Patrick Sharp on Buffalo but highly unlikely since I don't think Chicago will part with him.

It's pretty much a given and unofficially been noted that Sharp is on the block, SBF. With the guys they've locked up long term, coupled with the Hossa factor, they just can't afford to keep a guy like him in the mix. He kind of reminds me of another Tony Amonte with more grit.

I'd take him! These coming weeks are going to be interesting in regards to Sharp.

If that's the case if Sharp is on the block do you actually think Darcy of all people is going to deal for him?
I have no faith in Darcy as far as trades go. The last 2 years the trades he has made has been giving away picks for complete garbage who he never planned on re-signing. Why trade for that player then? If Darcy was to ever change his way about building this team I would be more than okay with him going out and acquiring some players this team needs but the only way this team is going to have a big name or stud player is thru the draft. Darcy will never make a trade for an all-star player. Never going to happen. I will say this over and over again until Darcy grows a pair this team will be an also ran until he changes his ways.

Now now, I never said I thought Darcy would make a move for him, ;) it is wishful thinking though :D

Nice quote pyramid jerk.

NJ gave up quite a lot to make this move happen. They have a deep pool of talent, but that's still an awful lot to give up for a rental.

Anyone who thinks that Darcy should have tried to pull this off (here's looking at you SBF) is on rock.

Would have rather seen him go out west, but such is.

I don't think New Jersey gave up that much if they can re-sign him! 2 roster players, a very good prospect in Cormier and a high high pick isn't really that much for a high scoring forward and they also receive a defenseman from Atlanta's roster so they really didn't give up much at all. It's a bold move by a great GM who know's Marty's coming close to the end of his career and why not make another run at it. Do I think Darcy should have made this move? It would be nice to have a forward of his talent on Buffalo but Darcy doesn't make big trades and only builds thru the draft. Plus the sabres have next to any cap space left to make a move like this unless they trade Roy, Poms or Vanek! I think Kovy's asking price is way too high unless your Crosby or Ovechkin.

I would disagree that a thug like Cormier would be considered a good prospect.

It is wishful thinking not trying to attack your post but Darcy is way too much of a conservative GM to make a move for a player of Sharp's quality.

After his pussy move, I'm surprised they were able to trade him.

He should be considered a good inmate.

So you base all of this on one dirty hit? Wow he was on last years Gold medal winning junior team and was a captain on this years team but he's not a good prospect? The kid is pretty darn good if he's on Team Canada junior squad 2 years in a row. Not trying to defend the kid but he's a pretty good player who known for hitting and for being a shut down player.

You're only trading his rights really. His suspension has no effect on those.

Frankly, I think that it was a slick move by Uncle Lou to get him out of the organization.

I know it doesn't, I'm surprised someone would accept his rights after what he did is what I was thinking.

He has a history of dirty hits. His most recent one was the most egregious, but he has a track record of taking liberties.

There's a very good chance he never sees the NHL. Season long suspensions are no joke.

No worries, SBF. I'm just hoping Darcy will prove me wrong.

I'm not looking for him to sell the farm to bring in one guy as we seen the Devils do tonight. Not saying they sold the farm (They got the best end of the deal for sure from what we can see right now) but who's to say Kovy resigns next year with NJ next year?

Could we land a guy like Sharp? More than likely. Will he do it? Given Darcy's previous years as GM, most likely not.

But again, I'm hoping he'll prove me wrong one of these days.

On Atlanta's roster now are you kidding. You will see this kid in a year or two because he will be given a chance. No GM is going to make a trade for someone that they think can't be on their roster! Wake up man

Wake up?????? Keep fucking with me young one. You clearly don't know fuck about the guy if you're trying to say he only took a single cheap shot. There was serious talk from a lot of knowledgeable hockey folks that said an NHL team may never chance putting this guy on the ice.

So do you mother fucking home work and don't tell me to 'wake up'.

He may end up on a roster, who knows. Anything can happen unless he's banned indefinitely in all IIHF leagues. (Oh yeah, that was discussed....)

Squanto, realize you're arguing with a 12 year old. It's not worth the time spent typing
