I am more worried about the state of employment in this country. I graduate college in two years and feel like I will be screwed. Currently less than 45% of college graduates are able to get jobs in their fields of study, and that number decreases every year. If the number of unemployed continues to rise, I would expect the stock market to tank eventually as a response, though.

My father sold his stocks less than a week before it started nose diving last year. Had he not done that he would have lost over $14,000 of the $20,000 he had gained from them.

More bleeding expected on the DOW today as the jobless report hits at the bell.

Fear moves the market quite a bit. :)

European countries with deficits... EUROPEAN COUNTRIES WITH DEFICITS?!?!?

Just goes to show that the USA is #1 in everything. ;)

January's employment report showed 20,000 more lost jobs, and the market has responded with another bloodletting. At the moment, the DOW is down roughly 140 points on the day and falling fast.

Wow...it shot up like a rocket here just before the bell. Down just over 30 points as I type.

You'll drive yourself crazy if you watch the Dow day to day, let alone hour to hour.

As I said in my previous post. When they look at bank regulation in the proper light, they will see stability. No word is bigger in the investment community than stability.

They meaning investors.

...and growth can come in two ways, volatile or stable. No investor likes to see a wobbly market. A nice smooth up slope please.

Actually, daz, if the volatile growth has a larger annual rate of return on average, then aggressive investors would favor that over the more stable, yet slower, growth. It's all about your personal investment outlook.
