A. if your going to distract the goalie, be original. this has already been done.

B. this is dangerous. if you cant see a frozen rubber projectile coming at your head, you cant brace for it. the mask can only protect you so much.

C. i fucking HATE the rangers.

D. knock this shit off. it isnt funny, or cute, or, "I JUST WANT MY TEAM TO WIN!"

how to prevent this? revoke this fans future right to see a game, in any NHL arena, for life. harsh? yes. but itll teach you.

Just to expand on this a bit; shining a light / laser pointer in a person's eyes has been proven to cause retinal damage.

Did the officials even notice that?

Anyone who shines a laser pointer in a goalie's eyes is just a fucking pussy who is probably a virgin. Who can't drive.

most are but a lot of teachers are starting to get green ones, b/c you can see better results. The green ones i heard are more dangerous to the eyes. plus scientists like to have fun and see what colours light that can produce. the danger comes from the frequency of the wave. green light has shorter wavers more crests and troughs than red light. i don't know all the schematics, though i probably should take a physics course in light.

Being a color with a shorter wavelength (higher frequency) means it also is a higher energy electromagnetic wave, in the same way that a gamma ray is more energetic than a microwave.

But really, the true difference is probably in the eye of the beholder. Literally. The eye is more sensetive to different wavelengths, meaning they absorb more of one wavelength than another. It just so happens that the human eye is most attuned to the color green (whether an evolutionary result of living in a world surrounded by green) meaning it will absorb more green rays than blue or red.

This is my educated guess as to why a green laser would be more dangerous to the human eye than a red laser.

Wow, I hate people who do that kind of shit.

Just because your team sucks does not give you the right to fuck with someone's vision. They need to start checking for this at arenas now, anyone with a laser pointer is not allowed in, don't just take it from them, disallow them to watch the game, teach them not to ever bring one again.

Seriously I've never seen green laser pointers until these two incidents.

http://www.greenlaserbeam.com/ this explains a lot of the physics.
http://news.healingwell.com/index.php?p=news1&id=525625 more of a health take on the situation.
apparently you can also purchase them on amazon and other sites i've just mainly seen teachers with them.

Imagine if they had Violet laser pointers, 400nm would be terrible then.

I HATE when people defend professional athletes in the cases of "Don't booo him waaahhh" They are grown men, and make a ton of money.

BUT, this is WAY over the line. I couldn't ever imagining doing something like this. It's classless, annoying, gutless, and you could get in a good amount of trouble for it.

Trust me, I love the Sabres, but I would never point a laser into the face of an opposing goalie.

Fans should only affect the game with noise.

Blue lasers are even more powerful than the green ones.

There is no real correlation between color and power when you're talking about laser pointers.
They're all relatively weak. Red, green or blue.

now if you want to have real fun, my Dad has a 5 watt laser for demonstration purposes that'll go right through most softer materials like wood and plastic in a couple seconds.

Fun times when I was a kid ;)

Well it all depends on the power they produce.

You want a real powerful laser you need to get one of those that plug into the wall and when it shines on material you can see the waves in it trying to go through the material.

My science teacher had one, but I doubt you can buy them, and they wouldn't work too well without an electrical plug.
