We are definitely in need of at least one player with this mentality. Fuck oh dear do I miss Rayzor!!! I played hockey and lacrosse way to many years to accept the liberties that are taken with our players over the past year or two - might as well put skirts on em!!

MY Two Cents

Same here Wyo, he may not of scored much, but opposing players thought twice, hell, three times before pulling some of the shit I've seen lately on the Sabres.

Say what you will about Avery, he had Gaborik's back.

the only thing wrong with avery is his mouth. he is, USUALLY, a pretty sound player who doesnt try to injure players. just annoy them.

Hell, the last team I was on, I HATED our goaltender. Couldn't stand him in the slightest.

But I still came to his defense when he got bumped. Cost me 5 games.

The Sabres weren't always so gutless...here's how it was done back in the day. Should be required viewing for Diva Stafford.

Part one: Paul Holmgren pummeling Donny Edwards

Part two: Lee Fogolin dishes out the retribution.

to be fair, on the Vanek hit, Vanek did get his punch in afterwards. A nice little gesture I thought.

You shouldn't let the player who got hit, the player who is ON THE GROUND, be the one to try to retaliate. Every other Sabre on the ice should have rushed in a pounded Ruutu to a pulp.

Particularly since earlier in the game he nearly killed Pominville with an elbow to the head that went unanswered, and has a long history of bullying the Sabres with cheap shots.

They should have been waiting for the first opportunity to get in his face and shake him around a bit. Heck, I would have had a hard time restraining myself until the first scrum.

Is it Lindy's fault? Has he brainwashed them into thinking there can't be any retaliation because of the penalties? Or are they just pussies?

i was on WSOD, looking up some of alexkn64s old posts, and came across HiL's old sig

Its disappointing. Guys have to look in the mirror. It starts with each person in the room. I have to find ways to be better myself and everybody else has to do the same thing. Its unacceptable with this group. I think we have a lot of growing to do. Its disappointing. It falls on the players. - Paul Gaustad.

Gutless, punchless, primadonnas. Pussies. Heartless. Take your pick.

Its very frustrating...I knew when TC rang that shot off the post that we were gonna lose. I seemed the mentality was very Eeyore like "well I guess that was are chance to win it..." after that.

I did like how Lindy stormed off though. Hopefully he just labels guys in the locker room.

I also like how Lindy stormed off. But it's got to be hard as a head coach when you see teams around you getting better and the Sabres sit back and doing nothing to improve.

Only in Buffalo does our head coach always get a free pass.

I've been a Sabres fan since they came into the league in 1970. When Ottawa landed a team in the early 90's i become a Sens fan 1st and a Sabres fan 2nd. IMHO the Sabres have shown to be a soft team over the last couple of years. They get pushed around some nights and I don't see them sticking up for one another very often.

IMHO only a handful of players on the team (Kaleta, Mair, Ellis, Gaustad) want anything to do with physical contact. The others wish it wasn’t part of the game.

Nicely said, and properly observed.

I think after last night, Howie, Lindy's head needs a good smack with a puck. The players are starting to reflect an example as to what is going on behind the bench. A whole lot of senseless, nothing. And that spans from Ruff to all the coaching staff.

It's just not working. The system is starting to fail and if they don't do something soon, Ruff will have lost the bench, the locker room and then the whole season will be officially in the shitter.

We lose tonight, and it's a big fucking problem. Pretty bad when we have to rely on the Laffs to keep the Sens off our backs. :?

So what the HELL? We have Rivet, Mair, Kaleta, Gaustad, Montador, and even Grier being tough guys. Guess who gets in scraps a lot too and defends himself and his team? VANEK. Myers will defend his goalie and team. Lydman gets angry. Kennedy gets in the nasty scraps. Our problem is when we get a lead, the other team can keep up. We can't stand tall against the other team skill wise. When Carolina was facing us, it was back and forth and then we took a bigger shit than the one before. We need more talent and hustle.

ETC you make me sick. I think you should just become a Leafs fan and be apart of Burke's belligerent, truculent and pugnacious system. That will quench your thirst for a hitting team.

Everytime the Sabres lose I know I'll have to read your bullshit. A title most likely saying 'No Heart', 'Gutless' or 'Softies'. I challenge you to write a thread that congratulates a Sabres win. Can't do it can ya? You'll simply malfunction by the sight of positive words.
