There's no reason for this thread to be locked.

It's one thing to be annoyed that this team is sucking balls REALLY hard right now. I am, and many others are too.

But, as we see with all losing streaks, all the professional armchair coaches and GMs come out of the woodwork. Pages of 'I said months ago that this team didn't have it', or 'See, they don't have what it takes to make it in the playoffs.' Except we're not even there yet.

Of course, many of these same folks were just looking for the team to make the playoffs last June. Now, because they've had a pretty shitty week, they're not contenders, they're terrible, and they should fire everyone in the organization, because clearly they're not committed to winning.

(Except they're still leading the division.)

Now we'll get weeks of 'Darcy sucks because he won't trade MacArthur for Ovechkin', and 'Oh look, so and so got traded , Darcy said there's no trades out there, he should be fired.' We're quite lucky to have such folks that have been in on the negotiations of so many trades!!!

I'm not implying that criticism of this team is warranted; it certainly is. But, the unreasonable bullshit will undoubtedly take over, and those of us who enjoy rational hockey discussion probably don't want to see it.

Hopefully they'll come out 7-2-1 after the break and shut some people up until the playoffs. Until they, I frankly appreciate CV's hefty load of sarcasm.

I hope you know he was just mocking a poster(maybe more than 1), who sounds more and more sane as the days go on. That's the funny thing about message boards, if you don't maintain an even keel, you will always sound crazy sometimes. I'm thinking rah rah might be going out of fashion soon.

ya, I agree. As long as everyone accepts it well, and it doesn't set a precedent to create mock threads. Mock posts are bad enough.

Ya this, "where it went"? The zillion dollar question? We want Connolly to start scoring, he does, but 2 other things go wrong. One step forward, 2 steps back.

If we know the team is good, and has a capable roster(ie proven they can win), that only leaves one thing. Consistency. You can't blame an ENTIRE team for inconsistency, can you?? This is just something to chew on, eh?

Who's up for trading away Vanek, Roy, Connolly, Pominville, Hecht, Grier, Rivet, Lydman, Tallinder, Montador, Goose, Mair, and starting over, trade them for all picks right now, I'm sure we can get some really good picks out of those 12 players, then call up everyone and just wish they lose, also Tell Miller to not worry about stopping the puck yet, and for Myers to just play like a rookie.

I mean this team sucks donkey balls and can't do anything right right now. Trade everyone away and rebuild.

Well who didn't watch the first period of that Penguins game and of the Ottawa game and think damn, this is the best hockey we've played all year. I know I did, especially with the Pens, we were simply taking it to them early in that game and they had no answers.

I'm right there with you daz. I have no answers. As far as Connolly, I didn't want him re-signed last year. I never thought he would stay healthy (ala Havlat) so I'll eat crow on that one, but! he isn't our Savior. I love the fact we get random goals from Lord knows who and none of our forwards are even near the top in scoring record wise (tongue in cheek). We only need to tweak a few things and I think were good.

I am pissed at Darcy(?) Complacent bastard. He replies on all the AHL call ups we had in 05/06(?) when our team was so injured. He signed all those guys to ridiculous contracts thinking the dark magic was written in stone.

We all have to eat crow every now and then. Look at what we said about Hecht last year and what he's done lately.

I'm not as thrilled with Kennedy as most seem to be and I don't think Gerbe is the answer either.
We were all impressed with Montador in the beginning and now - FTW? Same for Rivet?
Shakira? I have no clue.
Pommers? Practice hitting a target please. This is getting old.

To give this thread a better direction, it may be the Kaleta factor. When he's not in the line-up, they REALLY are a different team. I have no ideas why this is, but they are.

with our luck to tank now we'd end up just out of the play off contention and darcy will make a trade to try to get us into the playoffs as he knows if he doesn't his ass is gone, which will probably lose one of those picks and not one of darcy's beloved. Though a taylor hall would be nice. then again seeing fisher and sharp in here via trades would also be nice. I wouldn't want a current owner picking a new GM it will end worse than a Russ Brandon pick. I'd guess the landscaper would promote ruff who will in turn hirer one of his current assistants as the head coach, not Scotty Arniel (who i wouldn't mind replacing mcCutchenson) or Kevin Dineen (who wouldn't be a bad choice either). I'm sorry darcy you cannot fall in love with your players b/c then you don't see them as they truly are all the time, you see them as you want to see them. I've counseled too many people to not say love blinds.

While I was stewing over last night's debacle, I realized something. The Penguins last year had that horrid streak (right around the same time, I believe) that ended up costing the coach his job and landed them in 10th place. However, once they got out of that snide, they went on an impressive run that got them back into 4th and I'm sure that everyone here remembers what happened after that. So all I'm saying is, this little rut is not as bad as it seems. Maybe all we need at the deadline is a Bill Guerin type (see Ray Whitney) and who knows what will once this team finds their old form.
