I am so sick and tired of people jumping to crazy conclusions about all the flaws this team has when they are still in 1st place!

Time for everyone with a gripe to get over themselves, and stop quoting statistics that show this team is soft, because that's just stupid!

I know we've had a bad run the past few weeks, but it's just bad luck, really. A few bad bounces and we'd have won them all!

I'm done with all the so-called fans who claim to be fans but only point out every little bad thing at every opportunity. If you aren't a mindlessly unconditional optimist you need to turn in your fan card.

Everything you think you see and read and cite that's negative can be explained away. You really need to get perspective.

I wish we had a 'Merge Hyperbole' button. That way we could toss both extremes of the discussion into a pot and come out with something approximating reality.

Seriously, though, it does get frustrating to try and have a rational discussion about the strengths and weaknesses of this team when so many here only see all things as sunshine-and-roses or all doom-and-gloom. I've had as many arguments with the Blind Optimists as I've had with the Chicken Little pessimists, and can honestly say that there is little difference between them. Both sides simply see what they want to see regardless of the facts on the ground.

Suggest this team is too soft? WHAAAA!!! The infants come out in a panic that someone had the temerity to criticize their team, and begin having heart palpitations.

Suggest this team is well balanced and is only a few minor tweaks away? BAM!! The anti-Darcy/anti-Lindy movement gathers to draw blood.

Truth is, we are a well balanced team that can roll 4 lines, play very strong defense, and most nights enjoy Vezina caliber goaltending.

Truth also is, we are soft as a marshmallow, get pounded on a regular basis, and all too often don't adequately stand up for one another when bullied.

Neither extreme on this message board can come to grips with that, so we just have to laugh it off and move on when they get their panties in a bunch.

You know, whether you are a blind apologist who see's no wrong, or a Negative Nancy who see's know right, or flip between the two depending on the current streak, one thing is certain: we are all hoping that they win the Cup, and are doing our best to try and make sense of this team and their chances of doing it. ETC I agree completely with you. This team has shown flashes of brilliance and then games or the current stretch that makes us want to pull our hair out.

The bottom line is that I, like so many are along for the ride, regardless of how car sick it makes us.

Oh yeah, the guy who's mantra the last week or so has been how pussified this team is and has been relentlessly posting about it, is frustrated that people don't want to have a rational discussion with him. When you take one stance and beat it into the fucking ground, people are bound to play devils advocate with you... you only have yourself to blame.

We do have rational fans, but they often get smothered by the douche bags who hate anything that doesn't fit their radical position.

This is just Buffalo. The Bills forum is exactly the same. Ride an incredible high where everyone is happy, and then follow it with complete doom and gloom. Very rarely is there a middle ground with Buffalo fans.

This fact is made worse with the fact that a lot of us are filled with immense amounts of pride, and will defend our viewpoint to depths where rationality doesn't exist.
