Now, I'm not saying this streak shouldn't leave us concerned, however a prolonged losing streak isn't always an indicator of a lack of ability to compete in the playoffs.

Twas 2006...

March 18th - The Sabres lose to Ottawa 4-2
March 20th - The Sabres get shutout by Atlanta 5-0
March 22nd - The Sabres lose to Carolina 4-3
March 24th - The Sabres lose to Ottawa again 3-1
March 25th - The Sabres lose to Boston 4-3
March 27th - The Sabres lose to NYR 5-4 in the SO
March 29th - The Sabres finally win 4-3 over Boston
March 30th - The Sabres lose to New Jersey 3-1
April 1st - The Sabres lose to Toronto 7-0

And that came on the heels of an eight game winning streak. Remember the Sabres also had a stretch earlier that season where they lost 6 of 7.

Be concerned, as a fan, be demanding. Expect greatness, but don't be surprised if the Sabres turn things around, even quite convincingly.

That would be nice, because to me, being at the game last night, it felt like I was cheering for a bunch of monkeys fucking a greased football. God damned embarrassing.

I thought there have been flashes in the past 2 games of excellence.

If they just keep pushing, I think they'll break through.

At least I hope they will... :shifty:

I mean that late in the season it was ok...not as much as in January, but that does make me feel better.

It's not bad until you lose 7-0 to the freaking leafs.

Last year the Penguins weren't even in a playoff spot in December or January, and came out strong in the second half of the season and won the cup.

The Sharks had a 7 game losing streak early in the year same with the Penguins.

I think there is lots of evidence where you can say that a prolonged losing streak isn't necessarily the death knell to any lengthy postseason possibilities.

Of course, that having been said, the team now does need to take the next step. Win.

I brought this up earlier in this losing streak, and I know this is not good at all but at the same time we shouldn't be mashing the panic button.

Okay; but we had a back up who could give quality time when Miller was given the night off. We had a dynamic little center, and a clutch center who could both score timely goals. We had a defenseman who could transition the game nicely.

Different team, different time.

I remember that game. It was during the Final Four, and my girlfreiend at the time and I went to the sports bar I frequented. We had to pull out some favors to get the Sabres on a TV in the corner. Then that happened. It was quite depressing.

It all sounds so good, until you realize Drury or Briere are not on this current roster :(
But, I give everyone an A for effort.

Anytime a talk about 2006 comes up, I flash back to 4/24/2006. The Sabres are clobbering the Flyers 8-2 at home in game two of the first round (and the first game following the Umbergering). J.P. Dumont, who had been my favorite Sabre since Dave Andreychuk came back and left a second time, scored a hat trick during my first playoff game I had ever attended.

I say to myself "That's it, I'm finally getting a customized jersey - a J.P. Dumont third jersey!"

What happens? Dumont bolts for Nashville, and they changed to the fucking Slug. GODDAMMITALL ANYWAYS I WAS SO FUCKING PISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSED!!!
