vancouver has the same climate as seattle. they dont recieve much snow there. weather is extreme all the time. sure, this is a rarity, but its certainly nothing to worry about.

It's 70 degrees here but we technically have snow...at 6000 feet...where we always have snow.
I think people are busting out this statistic because Florida and Louisiana got it.

This is true, we rarely get snow in the Northwest compared to the same latitude in the Great Plains, the Great lakes, or the East coast.

However like Xcheck said about California, the higher elevations are a different story. The mountain events for these games are in places that normally are absolutely blanketed in snow, in totals that would put resorts like those in western NY, the Laurentiennes, and New England to shame. The lack of snow on Whistler is pretty damn unusual.

Arizona had snow when I went there the April I turned fourteen.

Of course, I was in the mountains (which are beautiful)...

It's snowing right now in NC, for the second time in two weeks.

^^My parents are driving through there now on the way to Florida. My mom called me about an hour ago and said there wasn't much snow but they already saw a lot of cars off the road.

I guess it's true that snow isn't well-handled down there!

Nope it's not, the only roads that will be clear will be the Interstate, but it's more of idiotic drivers.

The roads aren't bad, or weren't at 10pm while I was coming home, mostly a slush in parts but basically it;s still just wet, my neighborhood rood is just wet right now.

But it is still coming down pretty strong still.

People just don't know how to drive in the snow if they have never experienced it before. I remember my parents giving me a whole rundown on how to drive in the snow when I first started driving. ("This is what you do if your car starts to slide..." "I know the roads don't look bad right now, but it's REALLY slippery out." "Be careful on the 219, it's always the worst for white outs...")

I'm living with a few people from BC at school right now. Some of them had NEVER seen snow other than on whistler until they came here

im a liberal, but im also well versed in weather. i dont buy global warming. at least not to the degree that people shout about. we are probably influencing weather, but not THAT much. i truly believe its just the reciprocal weather patterns. i also believe the poles are reversing.

also, Kevin Williams of the Rochester News even says that Global Warming is a bunch of crap, there is no way to tell if we are actually causing damage, mainly because he said that earths weather is cyclicle, it goes through periods of warmer years and colder years. He also stated if you were to take the history of earth and stretch it out over a course of a mile, the length of that mile that is recorded weather is 1 Inch...

i think the earth is much apt to heal itself then we give it credit for. i just think weather patterns over the history of the earth point to reciprocal patterns. we are on an "upswing." it could just be a coincidence that the upswing coincided with recorded weather data and the industrial revolution. pollution levels in the 70s and 80s were much much worse then they are today, but the temps keep going up.

regardless, i HATE when people point to a 60 degree day in january, and say "tell me now global warming isnt real." THATS NOT GLOBAL WARMING! THATS A WARM FRONT ACCOMPANIED BY SOUTHERN, TROPICAL WIND! and its always followed by a huge cold snap with oodles of snow.
