Forget looking at specific elements in terms of where this team is lacking, because we know how well they can play when they're on their A game.

I think the BEST way to help the Sabres is to find a player that is either going to give them more confidence with regular scoring, or another veteran forward who can rally the troops and teach this bunch of misfits to aim for the effin jugular.

KILLER INSTINCT!

This team reminds me of a nerdy kid getting turned down at school dances. He gets a no once, and he never asks again.

This isn't about physicality, because physicality comes with confidence, as does steady competitive play.

This is about bringing in a player who will help this team KNOW at all times that they're just as good as everybody else, and that they need to stand down to NO ONE!

Drury and Briere gave them that swagger, and THAT is what we have been lacking. A go-to guy that NEVER fails to make something happen, even if it's just a scoring chance.

DO IT OR DIE TRYING!

So who's available that could do this for Buffalo? Remember, we're thinking a rugged, veteran forward with play making/scoring ability, or a younger player with exceptional talent.

To add alittle something additional to your thread.
I also think the olympic break is going to do wonders for Lindy Ruff as well as working with some others coaches and their coaching styles will help him change the way he approaches some things with this team.
I think he changed alittle when he helped coached Team Canada last year.

it is almost like they all look for that one guy to perform but when one guy does they still don't perform. if you are not going to have that 30-40 goal scorer you need the whole team to play. and the whole team isn't doing that.

I learned in my psychology class that an emergency situation is less likely to receive attention with MORE people around, due to the distribution of responsibility.

In other words, "I don't have to act on it, because someone must have taken care of it already," or, "There's someone more capable than me for this job."

I think this same rule applies here. Without a single guy who knows it's up to him to get the job done, the rest of them don't take matters into their own hands, when in reality, ALL OF THEM need to take matters into their own hands.

Bring in one guy to change that, and this team will be fine. I just has to be the right guy.

I agree also, and this Olympic break should do wonders as only five of our players are playing in them this year.

3 on Defense, one on forward, and a goalie. This gives the rest of the team time off and time to think about their season in jeopardy right now.

Secret interviews where Lindy and Darcy take each Sabre aside and say, "Well, [insert Sabre name here], the whole team is riding on you now. I believe you are the answer to the teams success. I have confidence in YOU, and only you, to turn this slump around!"

They then proceed to ruffle the player hair and give him a lollipop "Go get'm tiger! oh and don't tell anyone else I said this to you, this is just between us......... btw can you send Derek in next Steve?"

This team needs someone to come in and teach these guys to shoot.. We have soooo many scoring chances each game, but just can't bury them.. Pommy and Vanek are the 2 worst at finishing cause they get a million chances..

Not only do they need swagger, but a giant shake up as well. A trade or two might do the trick.

This victory is a bit of swagger gainer.

Getting a victory before a two week break is always a good thing.

This could be a major swagger builder.
